Guys i konw this is a pvp/faction server. But i think people are starting to take it a bit far. The admins and mods want us to have fun, not be afraid of the person we see. There is too much mar in peopls minds. What do you guys think?

Well I've always been wary of every single person I see, even in times of peace, most players I've ran into have tried to kill me without provocation. So this war is actually making squat difference to me.

There is far too much war and killing on the server, but war is also fun to spectate.

Phases come and go, there was a period of alot of peace and now happens to be a period of alot of war with the whole Imperial thing at it's height. Either Imperial is defeated or eats all of the world, and peaceful it will be again one way or another.

A week or so ago, I was wandering the desert, when I saw a silhouette on the horizen. Being curious, I started walking towards it, even though it was away from the direction I was heading. It was a random stranger, a username I'd never seen, so I had no idea what faction he was from. Before checking, I sent out a simple message saying something like "hello, traveler. What are you doing in this wasteland?". We had a decent RP conversation for a minute or two before going our separate ways. Afterwards, I checked his faction, and he was neither truced nor allied with me. We could have fought and killed eachother, there was nothing restraining us. But we didn't. That's my answer to this thread.

I saw two guys heading out of spawn and they stopped to talk to each other. I called out and got shot at.

Normally I just take the attacks because every single person on the server can OHKO me, and I have premium so no loss of material.

Well that wasn't us cause we weren't near spawn, and there was no third person. But yea that sucks, maybe they knew eachother, and didn't like strangers? I'm premium as well, so maybe I'm being biased as I have nothing to risk in trying to engage in conversation rather than battle, but I always try to, unless its a known enemy.

Ah my first day on the server, building my bridge to prove my worth. A random traveler donned in all diamond approached me and watched me build for a moment. I turned to him, called out a greeting and asked the man how his day fared. It fared well he said, so I nodded and returned to my building. Next I knew he had a sword out and was sprinting towards me. And so began a 20 min chase through the woods and rivers nearby, where I eventually was cornered and killed due to the very walls I was waiting to call home at the time.

This is why I'm very wary of any that approach me outside my own home. Though I am less so now that I too am a premium.

Stories like that annoy me, Draco. (I'm not annoyed at you, I'm annoyed at your assailant) I mean, lets start at the basis. What is roleplay, and what exactly does it mean? To me, roleplay is about creating a story, and a setting to fit that story. The staff creates the world, and we, the players and roleplayers(this also includes the staff) make the world alive. Massivecraft is something more than just a minecraft server, it is a world. A fantasy. When I log into Massive, I'm not Stephen (my real name), I'm not even Stephen playing minecraft, pretending to be a character. I'm Tallon Greenheart, a Yanar of Silmavora, a small maiar/yanar settlement near the coast of Ceardia. And while killing someone doesn't make me, Stephen, sad, it fills Tallon with sorrow, and as it rightly should. That's the true problem with roleplay. The problem isn't wars, although wars can be a result of the problem. The problem isn't lack of effort during RP, or hackers. The problem is that people aren't their characters. They are people, playing their characters. When you roleplay, you aren't just pretending to be someone. You are temporarily adopting their personality, and you must think like they do. Evaluate every situation. If you were living in a medieval world, you don't just randomly kill someone, even if they are stranger. Now, you as a person might think, "oh, it doesn't matter, if he beats me I'll just respawn and come back". While that's true, I roleplay every battle as if I don't respawn. If I die, Tallon is done. Now, when I actually do die, I'll roleplay it as a severe injury, as it doesn't make sense for someone to die and be fine, but nobody battles random people like Draco's assailant did, if they are actually thinking for themselves.

So I've kind of switched between off-topic and on-topic during that. And I kind of rambled a bit, so some of that may not even make sense. But I found this has helped me go more in-depth with Tallon's feelings on regular events. Get into that mental mindset. It's not enough to just think about what your character would think, or how he would feel. Try to think as your character, however his personality is. Don't roleplay. BE the role, simply playing it isn't enough.

And thus my strange speech is over.

Golem, the same thing happens to me too. When i get on massivecraft (whn I actually can) im not Shane, Im Aereon Kest. Im not a teenager from Canada, Im an old man from a long lost kingdom.
On another note, I agree, there is too much pvp, and not enough roleplay. I think that this needs to change. I can remember a time when me and my faction members were roleplaying, a stranger would come by and say hello. We would let them into our town, and have a great roleplay. It didnt matter if they were in full diamond armor, we still roleplayed with them. But thats not possible now. When someone come upon me in full diamond armor and a sword in hand, I run, because 9 out of 10 times, theyre coming to kill me. They dont know me and I dont know them. They justsee a player, and they only want to kill. Its been a long time since I could let someone in my base and have a good roleplay with them. Something needs to change.

This was totally me. I apologize, at the time I was at war with a faction not far from there. I was unsure if you were that person or otherwise and sometimes.. something else grabs hold of me.

Wow, I never expected to find the guy that did that on the forum xD
It's alright, faction warfare can be like that, and I was building near a couple factions, any one of which probably could benefit from that bridge when going to war.
