by the glorious gods of everywhere ever oh my lord this is just perfect^
Look. To everyone that finds discomfort with a male playing a female character: it's fine. I mean, there should never be a situation where you feel uncomfortable roleplaying, afterall, roleplaying is supposed to be a fun, enjoyable escape. But like, I feel like that if you're so adamant about the idea of gender roles/gender identification OOC that it conflicts with IC progression, then perhaps intense roleplay just isn't for you. I mean, I'm not saying that you should abandon all morals and what not once you hop onto the computer, but for the sake of playing a character, perhaps you can understand that neglecting that simple character progression really does have a sort of. Uh. Negative effect on the person behind the monitor.
I mean, I can cite various instances where people who have been confused about my gender have felt uncomfortable when roleplaying with me, especially if there was any sort of intimate relation sparking up. Of course, I am completely fine with that and I will happily drop the roleplay, because I am not one to force someone into a position of roleplay they are not comfortable with. But at the same time, do realize that me dropping that sort of progression sorta leaves me in an awkward place. I feel sorta rejected and left behind because of my own IRL gender/sexuality, and I'm forced to live this sort of life on Massive where I apparently carry this miasma of gender confusion. I know for a fact people talk all sorts of mess about me and I tend to brush it off as little whispers/rumors, but when they're sort of publicly demonstrated by the refusal to roleplay with me or anyone else who gender-bends, it sorta hurts because it implies truth in everyone everyone apparently said.
I'm not one to banter like this, so please take my words into proper consideration. I really hope tat one day the roleplay community on Massive can open up a bit, and just. Roleplay for the sake of roleplaying. (H)
P.S. To boys and girls, please for the love of all that is good, do not play an opposite-sex character if you milk stereotypes. Whether it's a gender stereotype or a sexuality stereotype, please try not to play a character out as a lady-whore or guy-whore whose sexulities are inflated to the highest of stereotypical flare.
