• Inventory Split Incoming

MassiveCraft will be implementing an inventory split across game modes to improve fairness, balance, and player experience. Each game mode (Roleplay and Survival) will have its own dedicated inventory going forward. To help players prepare, we’ve opened a special storage system to safeguard important items during the transition. For full details, read the announcement here: Game Mode Inventory Split blog post.

Your current inventories, backpacks, and ender chest are in the shared Medieval inventory. When the new Roleplay inventory is created and assigned to the roleplay world(s) you will lose access to your currently stored items.

    Important Dates

    • April 1: Trunk storage opens.
    • May 25: Final day to submit items for storage.
    • June 1: Inventories are officially split.

Please make sure to submit any items you wish to preserve in the trunk storage or one of the roleplay worlds before the deadline. After the split, inventories will no longer carry over between game modes.

Massivecraft went through a series of changes over time. One thing that has been ever changing is the lore. One of my favorite aspects of the lore is the wide variety of races. Many races have been added, removed, reworked, or had never been made playable in the first place. I remember when the Maiar were first added, and I remember playing as one day one of their release, back when we still had the old races plugin. I also remember them being near impossible to play as, as your couldn't go on land for very long without (I think it was) starving.

Now, I don't remember all of the races that ever existed, and many of them were reworked into existing races. However some of the ones I remember are:

Avarr: They were massive bird-humanoids. They were inspired by the Aztecs of Earth. These guys were powerful. So much so that they were outlawed in Regalia. These guys were removed shortly after they were released as many people just created throw away characters just to kill people for fun.

Pravden: A rat race. Literally. These guys, who I couldn't find a picture for, but they lived deep underground, directly beneath Regalia. They had rebuilt Regalia out of the rubble and junk that fell into their underground. They were roughly the size of a small child, and they had their own nobility, senate, royal family, Golden Willow Tavern, everything seen in Regalia, just made of loose bricks, wood, and other junk. They were never made playable, which I find a real shame as the idea for an alternate Regalia would have been so cool. They seem to have been completely scrapped, or may have been worked into the old Kleinfolk

Thylan: Tasmanian. Tiger. People. Need I say more on how cool these guys were? They were the closest thing to a dog race we ever had as far as I remember. They lived in the snowy wastes of Jorhillder and northern Ellador. These guys still exist, but are no longer playable. I remember having a guild of these guys that patrolled the wilderness around Regalia for monsters, undead, and bandits.

Ur: Yes. Their name was just two letters long. And these guys were cool. These guys were bears. Literal bear people. They lived alongside the Thylans and acted as their mortal enemies. They had to wear clothing to keep themselves from looking too much like real bears, so they wouldn't be killed on sight. They got a rework later on to look less bear-like. They seem to have been reworked into the Urls, who, of course, are more minotaur-like.

Sadier: These guys seem to have been completely overhauled into the Qadir. They were classified as undead. They were sand spirits. They only had one page in the race lore book, so very little is known about them.

Agni: The precursor to the Dakkar. They were lava elementals. They acted as the opposite to the Maiar. However, they were reworked into the Dakkar, as Agni is the name of a god in Hinduism. Massivecraft wanted to leave religion out of the server, so they were renamed and made more lizard-like.

th

Vespin/ Mekket/ Cirrci/ Arachne: This race BUGS me. Get it? BUGS? It's a pun. 'Cause they were bug people. They were later renamed to the Mekket, and were given a sub-group known as the Cirrci, who acted as magical queen ant/bee type people. They even had a special jelly-based magic, if I remember correctly. Then there were the Arachne, who were spider people. These guys eventually got reworked several times until we came to the Maraya, no longer resembling their buggy "alpha phase" (puns).

Golem: A race of stone people. I'm guessing they would have been used to explain the iron golems. These guys had a fairly short entry in the old race lore book. Again, not much is known about these guys.

Kleinfolk (And Subraces): These guys still exist, just no as varied as they once were. They are now the Lampar and Rashaq. However, these guys once had two very different subspecies: One very hobbit like, and one much more bestial. The hobbit like Klein are self-explanatory, however, Kleinfolk could take on the form of half-human, half-woodland critter. Squirrels, mice, goats, deer, boars, etc. These seem to have been what the Pravden were morphed into. These guys were popular when they were first released. So much so that they were labeled as vermin shortly after their release (after a dozen of them stood on the chandelier in the Golden Willow Tavern at once and it came crashing down). I loved the variety in these guys.

So, those are the old races I remember. I'm probably missing some. I'm not including the ones that still exist in a mostly unchanged form, such as Tigrans (cat people) and Naga (snake and lizard people). I'm just including the ones that were once playable, were going to be playable, or were massively overhauled in some way at some point. Photo credit mostly goes to Monmarty. Anyways, thank you for reading, and have a Massive Day!

When you think it's talking about the races that were replaced by traits but really it's just some RP thread.

I started as a Thylan and most of my characters thereafter were Thylan. I was a noob but nothing beat playing a Thylan who lived on the street juggling for people and being kicked by nobles while crying. Oh he also bloodlet people for fun. One of my first experiences was being invited into an empty house by a vampire and hucking my juggling balls at him to escape.

I remember playing a Thylan shaman who didn't speak any common, and only came to regalia after being displaced by the bone horror crisis. He was fun. I really like Thylan culture and religion.

Now the naga were pretty fun.
The thylan too.
I miss the old yanar nymphs too.. sigh..

So many memories.

As far as i'm aware too, the new Allar were heavily inspired from the original Naga with their various subraces and societal structure! Allar always had subraces, but Naga and Allar are as close as they have been. It's why I love the current Allar the most, more than any of their other versions-- because they're so similar to their original concept.

dont forget the best race of all time, the crelin

;-;

Mos of these racial pages can be viewed using the Wayback Machine, if you know how to use it. It's a quick google-- and quite fun to poke around with! I personally went back to look at the old Naga lore when suggesting an idea for the Allar rewrite that became what we have today. I'll link some of these races using the Wayback Machine below in a spoiler, along with some other stuff I've been able to dig up in the last ten minutes. I for one, while I do love the past, look forward to what is on the horizon with much of the upcoming lore!

My favourite two were missed! :'(

Nymph Yanar and Crelin.

Nymph Yanar were essentially a mix between a human and a present-day Yanar in appearance. They had skin and hair, but with small patches of bark, vines, and flowers growing from their skin. Some even had leafy wings (though this was soon removed)! In her very early days, Nadina was a nymph yanar simply called "Ni Alvira", which eventually morphed into "Niantha Aalvienta", then imperialized.

Crelin were a race of tiny people similar to the Kleinfolk, but were green, tribal, and Orc-like in appearance. Essentially goblins. If I remember correctly they were the enemy of the humanoid Kleinfolk, and there was a significant gang of them in the old old sewers that rode warpigs and terrorised people. They were fun.

Oh boy. I remember the Golems. They were "coming soon" for ages, then for a brief time people were allowed to start playing them (this was way before the wiki, If I recall correctly, and approved characters might not have been a big thing yet). I created a Golem character who I had a lot of fun with for about a week, until I found out in the middle of some RP that they had been scrapped from lore.

Most definitely Ur. I remember when they first came out and after a couple of days I had became Dr.Fongs pet Ur. That was fun times running the abusement park.

Repeatedly ovalating with Ailor causes Yanar skin to become Ailor like. Yanar Nymphs are still backwards compatible with lore.

Thylans are also coming back in Sihai Lore.

Crelin were cool, as well as the old Q'urebo variety. Could play Cats, Goats, not just rodents. And there were E'rsin, too. Mini elves.

Ur were awesome and I have no idea why they were removed. A true shame. My Ur character was one of my fondest characters of all time.

Miss the Ur!! They were honestly my favorite... Urls are neat and all but c'mon... Big fluffy teddy bears vs big cow men? Teddy bears always.

I miss the T'oree, a sub race of Kleinfolk. They were very much fun to play as, and one of the only kleinfolk race that had a little strength to them, with their legs and horns. Plus, they were just generally visually appealing! It was lovely.

I remember those, got kicked in the gut by one once. oof

It was unfortunate what happened to the bugs. The original "bug" design was flawed, being that circci were the only subrace with intelligence (vissi couldn't talk, torpp could only speak mekket tongue) but the circci design was super weird. So the staff solution was to make them less bug like, and removed the cool subraces, so only the circci were left. Then they removed the bugs all together and made blue anime chicks...
