Vampires can have strong morals, they just become warped. The fact that they drink blood alone, makes them evil. On top of that, the curse warps their morals so they may end up doing terrible things under the guidance that they're good. My vampire is a good woman. She cares about love and family and the like. She also infected her sister with vampiric disease, assuming it was for the good of everyone, and stabbed a man who caused her and her sister pain.

Actually Ci'e is quite a nice guy, and he only wants to help. He was even praised for not being a sadist, which the reviewer found to be refreshing.

He is evil as long as he is a vampire, and is aiding the demons of the void to terrorize the world and kill all living things. I'm surprised that your attitude towards vampires is so optimistic.

When I RP I find it easier to stay partly in character sometimes, so then I seem more forgiving and accepting. Although I do believe there are evil vampires, I also believe that they can be good. Just like how there are good humans, there are also evil ones.

Further strangeness, if he is a pacifist, does he never drink blood? He has to have had human contact to drink blood to survive, you can't live off animal blood forever, and he isn't a pacifist if he drinks humans blood, as that is a aggressive act.

all vampires, no matter who they may be, are AIDING DEMONS. That makes them inherently "bad" and evil, as well as illegal in Regalia.

What I meant by that was when I'm not RPing I partly stay in character. When I do RP I'm no one else besides Ci'e.

Whoooo kay so we all knew i would put in my ten cents here, so here we go.

I think this reply will cover most vampire discussion threads on the forums, so before posting another thread, now or in the future- read this reply.

What is terribly unfortunate about this server and the vampires on it, is that a large majority of the players that are 'roleplaying' as these irritating gothic/punk/look-how-few-****s-i-give vampires, don't actually partake on the forums, and by extent, don't read the lore. They are literally a bunch of random kids who found massivecraft on a list of servers and thought, oh hey look its a random server lets give it a try.

You need to understand that these people are young, and don't want to do an excessive amount of reading through the very precise and preventing lore. Does that mean they should find another server to troll on? Well yeah if they want to be lore compliant, probably, but we can't make them do so. They are still at the age where they are trying to prove themselves over other people, and as such they are going to be the most mysterious, most badass, most special snowflake character they can possibly muster. They like feeling unique, and more than that they like feeling like rebels.

No, vampirism doesn't only exist for one to express their need to rebel against the norm, in saying that, think about what vampires represent in the very classic version that today offers. They are outcasts, damned to forever live and kill. Kids and the younger generation have a very precise understanding of what good and bad is. In the media of today there are very few kids shows (perhaps none at all) that offer the intricate shades in-between, because it is too difficult for them to understand.

Understanding blatant good and blatant evil is an easy concept.

Now to elaborate on this, some of the people joining this server understand that, but most offer only what i like to call aimless evil. They like killing because they like killing, they like blood and guts because they like blood and guts. In their eyes it makes someone seem twisted and wicked and creepy, like a craaaazy psychopath! when really it comes across as pretentious- in my opinion anyway. Why do they do this? Power over another person. Power of being scary and creepy and making someone uncomfortable. It gives people an ego kick.

Lets be honest here, most of us are probably nerds that have been bullied at one point or another. I know for damn sure that I both am and was, severely. People vent being picked on in real life by using means such as minecraft. It's the typical notion is that a bully in real life is more than likely picked on by their older brother or sister, or perhaps live in a broken family. Its the same idea. "I cant be the boss in one situation, so i will be the boss in another one."

They want to be the scariest and most important and most able to kill everyone so no one ever dares pick on them or question their authority. We are all being vented on by one person or another. No this isn't always the case, but i find it hugely is with newbie vampires who are overly attention seeking or aggressive in character, and who do dumb things like grow claws or wings. they want to have a very large shock factor. they want people to run and hide from them.

But when it comes to vampires saying they are good, what it really is is attention mongering. They are so tortured and trapped in mortal coil and want sympathy for their situation. They want to be dangerous, yet have an endearing aspect that makes people love them yet be wary. Yeah its annoying, but do you know how to deal with it? you don't give them any attention at all. You don't even call them out on what they are trying to do. you ignore them and they quit it because they aren't getting the desired reaction.

Alright, now i've had my psychological rant on why vampires pull in the people they do, let me expand on the vampires themselves.

Vampires as a whole have been warped by modern media hugely, and to be honest i love what this server has offered them. Vampires suddenly have the choice to be vampires. they have the choice to kill with little to no actual positives to their situation, other than night vision and the ability to fall great heights.

This is a very hard situation to comprehend on a personal level, especially by people who have had very little life experience in sheltered environments. So therefor they mimic rather than understand. It is like mimicking someone talking a different language. You have no idea what you are saying, plus your pronunciation is probably off. Its the same idea.

They have no idea what it would be like to be a real vampire, so they are going to roleplay like the vampires they probably see in things that are NOT TWILIGHT, but more likely VAMPIRE KNIGHT. Believe it or not i actually like twilight more than Vampire knight. Yeah twilight is dumb and what the hell why would a vampire shine in the sunlight, Stephanie Meyer isnt a good writer, her characters are boring and terrible examples for young women, yada yada yada, but i just find the vampire knight vampires obnoxious and irritating and more like what the newbie vampires are trying to portray.

I would be less irritated if they were trying to portray twilight vampires, because i feel like a twilight vampire would more likely give in straight away to guards, and would be more interested in concealing their identity.

Okay, if you are still with me, congratulations- and this is my last tangent.

I don't like how a lot of the vampires on this server have so little culture or relation to tradition. No tradition isn't needed, but on personal character levels, i believe that if you want to understand and be a vampire, you need to know where vampires were born. If you want essence, understand the essence of vampirism and how it came to evolve to what it is today. Google it. read folklore and history and ideas from hundreds of years ago.

Before one attacks anothers vampire roleplay, they need to look to themselves and see if they can improve what they themselves are doing. If I can improve what i'm doing, so can you, and i know i can. In my opinion we need to see more vampires based on things like what me, @ObscureKoala and @PizzaRoles are trying to create with these archaic bloodlines. They are old bloodlines originating from things such as irl gypsies, frenchmen, nordic cultures, japanese triplets, raw, undying, steady history.

Yes, in the end i could bitch for days about the dumb vampires on the server, but here is what i really want people to understand;

1. they are young

2. they want to be boss

3. they don't use the forums

4. they probably hate reading

5. they have a very set idea on what vampirism entails

6. if you don't like shrieking turn your hostile mobs sounds off

7. we can prevent vampires existing by making the blood harder to come by, like the order wants to do

8. they don't have approved characters

9. you aren't obliged to acknowledge them

10. you will be happier if you don't.

๖ۣۜTo speak in roleplay terms, with a Dark Altar existing, the blood is pretty endless as long as you got some soup and dynamite supplies. In fact, with you mentioning that, I almost feel like I should try and suggest Vampyrism be Harder to get. If Vampyres were originally made to be an infection, why make it a prayer? Not only would it encourage people to try other character races to work on, thus reducing the population of 'snobbish' vamps, but it also could help make it what it is, an infection. Dark Altars I feel can stay, but like light altars, why not cost something expensive? Sugar, Bucket of water, wheat, and a diamond might not seem a lot, but to the new player, that diamond could certainly be what is separating them from a cure and being infected. Why not cost a piece of obsidian to be a Vamp from a dark altar? Not only more costly than a cure, but much harder to get. I will stop my idea here, I want to keep on topic.

Well, he was suggesting that it is impossible for this to be vamps. They can ACT good, but they cannot be good.. Good humans turn bad too. Have you ever had such a bad day or gone so long without food you were just all grumpy and mean? If not, you are not human. If so, that basically is what a Vamp is like when they are missing human blood. They get cranky, they get mean, sometimes violent. Only, their violence is on a higher scale. It is much easier to tease and anger a Vamp than it is the average human, mainly because a Vamp has more a mental state of an animal when they lack food.

No, because your character can not get cured not because the cure is not present, but because they can not go out and seek it for whatever reason *cough* night *cough cough*. What Tech means is that it is not a disease that is impossible to cure, e.g a faulty heart, although doctors can take precautions to make sure it will not affect the person his/her heart will always be faulty. Vampirism is not like this. If you present required items as sacrifice, your tie to Mrs. Baver (Archdemon, and the whole dam reason you are a vampire) will be broken.

Porphyric Hemophilia is a condition caused by a bacterial strain carried in the blood and saliva of every vampire. A human who comes in contact with the blood or saliva of a vampire can easily become exposed to this bacteria. Once exposed, an infected human only has about 72 hours to begin the treatments before the bacteria becomes much stronger.
In essence, this "vampire disease" spreads through the human's body, changing the chemistry of the blood and skin. The first symptoms of infection may include photosensitivity or photodermatitis (sensitivity to light of the eyes or skin). Muscle weakness or seizures can occur, as well as inconsistencies in the nervous system, such as a slow or rapid heartbeat.
Eventually the bacteria behind this disease settles into the body and lives there, creating a perfect environment for it to exist in. At this point, the human body has been completely transformed with the curses, but not the benefits of vampirism. In order to gain immortality, strength, and speed, one must still drink the blood of a vampire.

All of this is added in the plugin, but I've met so many vampires being all "Look at me, I can't die!" "Lookie, lookie, I'm going to rule Rugelii (For reals, someone said that) Aaaaaand as mentioned toons of times before, "I'm goood, goooood I tell you!!!" And "I'm a vegetarian, I don't eat humans, never ever ever!!"
I ended up speaking to the vegetarian vampire about the lore for about 10 minutes.
It's annoying.
So please make it harder to catch the disease, perhaps a pufferfish and a block of obsidian would do the trick?

I think the major thing you are bumping into is our world's morals. The thing you have to realize when RPing on Massive is that it is a whole new world. Despite your beliefs in this world, in Massive there is a new standard of morals. As many have said above, the fact that you are a battery for the Archdemon makes you evil since you are enabling the increasing strength of the world's greatest enemy. Also, as Ryciera said, a vampire's own morals become corrupted. So eventually, they all become killers whether they like it or not. For instance, my character originally became a vampire to allow him to exact revenge on a man who killed his adopted father. Now while my character's original purpose may have been good or just, he now continues to be vampire and kills people because he thinks he is enacting "justice" again. Good vampires end up justifying their own killer nature.

Also, another thing is how people react to you. I once tried to RP with someone who ended up being a vampire who was "coming out" and trying to get people to accept him. The thing is, in a world where your existence is illegal, your character actually wouldn't do that. You are a diseased being that has connections to a demon. So being accepted wouldn't really be the issue, instead you would want to hide. Another thing is that the main religion in Regalia (Unionism) worships dead emperors. Since those emperors made the laws regarded vampirism, and since many people believe the emperors to be deities, then your existence is immoral because it conflicts with their beliefs. In this world they may be wrong, but in Massive it is a whole new ball game.

Finally (and this is no longer directed at you), how OCC people act towards you is also a factor. Many new members that join the server see vampire and want to be one because a( they think it would be cool or that they enjoy them OCC, or b( what Luthien talked about regarding psychology. Now after they start doing what they think a vampire does, suddenly they have all these different "experienced" people getting mad at them but not helping them. By those "experienced" members getting all self-righteous on them, new members end up not wanting to deal with them and just keep doing what they usually do.

As members who know a little more about the lore, we should make sure to help people who are unfamiliar with the lore. I mean, there are some people who are blatant and just pure annoying, but they are not the main population of noobs. We need to point them in the right direction and help them become better at RPing. If you think you are better than them just because you know more, then you aren't actually helping the server. You are just helping yourself. We should be constantly encouraging and promoting the lore. Not just making fun of new members and doing nothing else.

In summary:

Morality is different in Massivecraft than in this world
Vampires become twisted in their thinking
The main religion in Regalia considers them evil, therefor they are evil by comparison to most citizens
Vampires wouldn't want to focus on being good, they want to survive
If you treat noobs with disrespect, then they won't respect the lore either
We need to promote the lore and encourage budding RPers
We should not consider ourselves better just because we have been around longer

People are more interested in surviving on massivecraft instead of roleplaying on it. They don't know what they're doing. I wish there was an effective way to weed out the bad rpers and take them elsewhere, educate them, then send them back off into the wild. Like force new ppl to take classes at an academy before letting them be free to rp.

I was thinking of doing something like this, herding up a couple of newbs to the theatre and going over some RP etiquette. I've sort of ditched the idea because:
1: I can't do it on my own
2: I've got no idea what to talk about
3: Herding enough newbies together without admin commands would be worse than herding cats/
4: The more abrasive a newb is, the harder the friction with whoever tries to teach them (and now you know why Ztril did what he did to that pool that vampire was drinking out of).
But it's an idea I've definitely got on the back burner.

On a more on topic note, I was going to do a little bit when talking on races regading vampires. Basically:
1: Not a good idea for new players
2: Vampires have a medical psychopathic outlook rather than a Hollywood psycopathic outlook.
3: Vamprisim is a one way street that cannot be walked lightly, and will change you in the eyes of the law.
