By consultation of the Regalian Scholar's Court (or what is left of it), the Emperor announced the creation of the Legio Gemina (Proto-Regalian for Army of the Twins), or by the common name: Gemina Order. The Emperor decreed that, he had found value in the Themai of Horopados after inspecting a number of Url specimens himself. While he could not assert his agreement with the Horopados view of advancement and evolution of what it means to be Human, he did make a statement that heavily implied that he would view any Humanum who would subject themselves to become an Url and serve in the Legio Gemina to be a holy warrior and a martyr for the Unionist faith. The Emperor decreed that, as long as the Url Symbiosis was done voluntarily and within the framework of the Legio Gemina, that it was legal, and in fact a sign of great military virtue, to become a Gemina warrior within the Legio Gemina. As such, it became evident that the Legio Gemina was exactly that: an order donned as a military unit of Url only members aimed at becoming an elite regiment of the Regalian Army.
Numerous Urls immediately flocked to the Imperial Steward of the Empire (who was in charge of taking in applicants for the Legio Gemina until a Commander was appointed), while whole droves of Regalian soldiers who had served under the Emperor in Shen-Xi voluntarily submitted themselves to symbiosis to become the Emperor's Holy Url warriors. Indeed, the Regalian Empire suddenly started a lucrative trade of Oorl worm captures and cultivation in Regalia itself, albeit strictly regulated by the State. Url that wished to join the Legio Gemina would be rigorously tested by the Sancella on their faith, as would any willing convert. That being said, the Regalian Army seemed to welcome these beastly warriors in their ranks, particularly because of the Orc-like ferocity, yet Ailor-like pensive self-control. Any who wished to subject themselves to symbiosis were challenged to meet with the Imperial Steward for a consultation and evaluation before being permitted to symbiosis with an Oorl worm provided by the State. The Url that were signed up to the Legio Gemina received extraordinary benefits, ranging from a high wage to first rank citizenship rights and even open relation retention rights, meaning they could essentially function as real Ailor in every way and form.
Furthermore, in preparation for his departure to the front, Emperor Cedromar decreed that the Holy Law of Office Law (which had remained inactive for practically all eternity) was now in fact, in effect. This meant that any Writ of Sin issued by the High Reverend and ratified by the Synod of the Sancella of Union, would bar someone from holding political office, regardless of their protections and rank within the civil government. Furthermore, the Emperor made a few not so specific statements on the 12th creed and its application. The Emperor alluded that, while the religious freedoms of some religions would not be constrained, he was extremely displeased with the defiant tone some Velheimers had taken towards his authority. He had reconsidered, feeling that the act of telling another Unionist that the Emperor is not the highest godly being, should in fact be a crime and an affront to Unionism, even if holding that sentiment in silence in one's mind was not. The Emperor did not specifically make a law out of it, but put a very strong urging onto the Synod to double up or triple up their efforts to convert the legal heathens by any means necessary short of breaking the law, because even though they were tolerated, this toleration should never lead to dissent or disgusting arrogance on their part. He specifically stated: "Those cretins cannot hide behind the law to deface my name and the Spirit, and must be corrected".
All the while this occurred, the High Reverend of Regalia, supported by the Synod, sent a mission to Etosil with the intention of attempting to mend the schism. The Patriarch of Etosil was positively disposed to the idea, but presented a very reactionary standpoint that he would not entertain any mending of the Sancella's schism until the Sancella of Union would recognize the living Herons of the Etosian Church. The Patriarch was willing to accept a compromise of the living Herons based on the Emperor's personal appointment and approval of said living Herons, but still demanded that if any of the Sancella's wishes were to be adhered to, that the Sancella needed to respect the views of the Etosian Church and make the first step to re-unification by submitting to his demands.
The Emperor issued a full retreat order to all Daendroquin armies and garrisons placed in Basqlierra, Daenshore and Catalon, with the sole exception of the Varran city states. The Emperor declared that the Daendroquin city states had tested royal power far too often, and would now sleep in the bed they had made, completely unprotected and vulnerable to the coming horde. And the horde indeed came.
Perhaps coincidental to the Emperor's command, an army of near 90,000 Avanthar crossed the border of the Forestlands (which had luckily already been evacuated) and smashed into Roland Heinrich's army, completely surrounding it and utterly wiping it out. The army then raged forward, pillaging and burning the forest realm villages and logging camps, before finally halting before the bastion walls of the Daenshore cities, venturing not to besiege these cities, as the Avanthar likely didn't possess much sieging capacity, but certainly occupying nearly 85% of the landmass of Daendroc save the shorelines.
The Emperor then departed from Regalia with 60,000 men towards Ithania, leaving his throne empty once more, and not a moment too soon either. Shendar troops had started crossing the border, clashing occasionally with Ombre's defence forces, though quickly retreating back into l'Elvellen which had turned into a warzone because of Shendar occupation. The Emperor's army quickly gave chase, but turned into a tug of war with the Shendar, meaning the Emperor was likely not to be relied upon to deal with any other military engagements in the foreseeable future, likely to the chagrin of some military leaders, but certainly to Regalia's advantage by knocking the Shendar out of the field as a possible threat.
The Open Ocean Guild under the leadership of Christopher Black attempted to sail east for a mission to Farah'deen, but was promptly stopped by an impounding order from the Regalian Ministry of Finance and the House of Trade. Given Black's speaking of his intentions at an Imperial Audience, the House of Trade had caught wind of their intentions and revoked their mooring rights and departure rights, meaning the Open Ocean Guild was not permitted to send envoys out of Regalia to foreign nations, essentially stranding their ships. With their venture not going anywhere, the people involved simply chose to go home.
Ida Krupp, leading a small force supported by House Ignaard and Sorenvik marched up to Helegen in Drixagh with humanitarian aid, but mostly with the intention to try and figure out what happened with the locals. Instead, they stumbled upon an Ombre private army parked right on top of Helegen and the surrounding areas. Krupp's force was denied entry by the Ombre force, supported by House Ravenstad, Ulfurtonn and Viduggla, before being forced to turn back away, having achieved nothing. Ombre themselves also found little, despite their massive manpower advantage over Krupp's force. Whatever tracks could have been were snowed away, and the rest was tranquil as could be. Aside from the crushed buildings, there was no blood, no corpses, no signs of any struggle, and the surrounding areas were dead as could be as well. All caves were empty, foraging bushes untouched and cattle still attached to their poles and stables with their leashes.
House d'Ortonnaise sent a two pronged reconnaissance mission, both on land and on sea by Audrey and Alexander d'Ortonnaise respectively. Audrey d'Ortonnaise's attempts to find a magical cannon proved fruitless, though she did establish information on the soldier presence in the area. Gran Rië was supposedly defended by at least 70,000 men, though this number could have been higher. Väll was supposedly defended by at least 55,000 men, while the fort of Tond was defended by 20,000 men. Alexander d'Ortonnaise's reconnaissance fleet stumbled into the moored Elven fleet of 70 warships by the Fort of Gera on the south eastern coastline. They immediately retreated, witnessing the Elven fleet strike sails and give pursuit, but they did not seem to actually chase the reconnaissance fleet. Rather, from the movements, it became evident that the Elven fleet was sailing to attack something that was not the fleeing fleet, but the exact target was unknown to the scouts.
Indeed, the Regalian losses in the war and the lack of movement at the front had given the Elves all the time to gather up their naval forces in secret, where they were once shattered and isolated, they were now unified for the first time in 300 years. The rabid genocidal practices of the Regalian government had only pushed the Elves closer together forming a federation not too long ago, more so than they had even been during the Orc invasion, so it was only natural that the Elven rulers of the smaller local realms all agreed to proclaim the rebirth of the Elven Empire. Spearheaded by the Prince of Precaëlle, the Elven Empire (or Iluve Nelfalae in the modern Elven language) was proclaimed with the empty seat as ruler. This empty seat was a metaphor. In practice, the Elven Empire was now ran by a council of advisers, two from each client state, who presided over an empty throne that was supposed to seat Medui's heir. The Elves managed to broker a stable unifying agreement under the premise that none would claim the throne for themselves or support another until a true heir of Medui would appear to them, thus using the vacancy of the throne to further cement their cooperation as they considered themselves all equal in not claiming the throne they had before, which was largely the reason why the Elves fractured so much over the past centuries. With the Elven Empire re-established, the Avanthar immediately declared war on them, while the Shadow Pact was still at war with them also. A Saivalthar army invaded the southern coastline, while Wolathar raiders breached beyond the forests and started sporadic skirmishes with the Elven border guards, but it seemed almost negligible. The Elven Empire's re-establishment had opened up a massive manpower pool that even Regalia couldn't rival, meaning that a regional superpower had suddenly been established as a military super monster, causing a mild tinge of panic in Regalia and outrage at the civil government which had seemed to be more concerned with printing presses, trade practices and whether or not women should be in political office or not.
