Should we re-set the nether?

I find that a new nether would be good for us all, but we should compensate the people who have factions/large plots of land there.

Yeah, we should transfer the amount of chunks a player has into a new world. Or return it back.

Sounds like a hassle to me, destroying other peoples structures, faction land, etc... I would say make a new world entirely based on the Nether, without it being in the nether dimension itself. This would cause a ton less lag in the nether, ( being it in the overworld), and give players newer and more access to things such as, Blaze spawners and netherrack.

Rocketfool is working on something like this already

It's not a poll option, but this would get my vote. As far as resetting the Nether itself, I'm kind of ambivalent. I don't have a real good reason to even go there. A Nether Themed overworld though, that would be really cool.

** edit **
I voted "Yes", but the caveat is that the seed for the Nether should be changed so that the map is actually different. There should also be a good bit of warning time for people to get their stuff out of the Nether, especially if they have large holdings there.

I have no interest in the matter, so I'm withholding my vote, but if there isn't any strong objection, I would approve of a reset just to help clean up the place. I would suggest, though a larger protected spawn area with good roads. It's too easy for a small one to be completely surrounded by faction claims, and the difficulty of travel in the nether without being able to modify the terrain makes it very hard to get anywhere.

I think we must have a new nether, Its nearly impossible to find any untouched nether forts, and its running low on materials. Plus if anyone even want to TRY going to the nether they need to get passed the greifed landscape surrounding spawn.

16 chunk rule would semi-prevent spawn clustering:)

Hmmm... a Nether Overworld sounds enticing. I have enough lag on my system as is, without Nether-lag. :D

However, I've never really had any reason to go to the Nether (other than to browse a shop that portaled there :D) so it doesn't really effect me. I'll say yes.

I say yes. Even though I have access to four blaze spawners, the spawn area is just beyond horrible looking and its nearly impossible to get anywhere nowadays. We reset it before without any hassle so I don't see why it would be a hassle now.

Myes it should :P The current nether has been stripped of all it's greatness :(

Maybe some of you aren't realising, but there are a ton of factions with their entire bases built in the nether, even if you aren't one of them it doesn't mean that they don't exist.

Eh, as long as moderators assist in moving, I doubt many people would mind. For example moving buildings, but not blaze farms, etc.

Dang, if only this was like the Grid, where we could take a chunk and whatever was in it would be transferred somewhere else...Could that possibly work?

In my opinion the nether is a red Ceardia, in the sense that 80% of the structures there are griefed/not claimed.

We could do with a reset of the Nether, as long as the staff gives players warning.

hmm 0 days warning is enough for me and who like this nether we have now
i think maybe 3 people
JUST RESET THAT NETHER I NOT NEED ANY WARNING

It is clear from outset, just by looking the map that majority of players have very little interest in nether, on other side some of us have decent amount of land claimed in nether and build some structures around it. Results of this poll therefore will not really present with any kind of valid direction since people voting yes mostly would not care if nether is there or not. For myself and my faction answer must be no, we spent lots of time digging through nether to get to our lands and then second time again to restart portals when update came (and we still cannot find one of our portals). And I know that with exception of few chunks around spawn most of the nether is untouched, it is just that people could not be bothered to dig far enough.

Although this is alot of work, maybe the team could look into making a separate meter world. But this wouldn't be just some randomly generates nether. Possibly the team could create a custom made nether world like Ellador or Daendroc. I know this would be alot of work and could possibly cause some lag, but again this is only a suggestion.

I agree with zack. I also has some awesome ideas to bethe bo2s just ask me and i make it and send you some pictures

I say yes. I can't ever find anything in the nether, thanks to spammed griefed faction lands. Travel is very annoying.
