Yesterday, my premium status expired, and I had to live with the torture of not being able to get on the server until my father was able to lend me his credit card the next day.

I noticed how difficult it was to get on the server. Obviously, we can't raise slots, or the TPS would move down to 2 or so.

So I thought of queues - You just attempt connecting once, and if the server is full, it will automatically connect you when the player count goes down to 174 and there is nobody in the queue in front of you.

Let me know what you think :)

It is an idea that makes things fair... But then it'd take even longer for people getting on latee during the peak times... So I dunno[DOUBLEPOST=1357354635][/DOUBLEPOST]Oh, and I can't vote on the poll

Good idea, but do you want to know how hard this old be to code? Let alone it being possible. It would seem it would be just like the player being on, because the queue would have to manage and host the players wanting to join, so I think this would be beneficial

Issues:
1) Not worth the effort. Cayorion should be spending his time working on sharding and reducing the lag, not finding a better way to get around it.
2) Takes up an amount of RAM almost like any normal player. Will increase lag either way.
3) If a non-premium needs to relog, they will have some chance of keeping their spot when they log back in. But with your suggestion, it is next to impossible to join.
4) I believe this messes with one of Bukkit's functions. Also, I'm not sure how many of the other plugins on this server will be compatible with this.

this could go either way, as in yes you could just sit in the queue, but think of the people that would just sit afk in the queue filling it up :/

Is there any way a forum mod/admin can make it so we can vote on the poll?

A queue would be beneficial, however lets say there is 10 players in a queue and then someone feels like playing MassiveCraft, they'd have to wait an excessively long time that will gradually get longer due to the fact that people will be joined all the time the server goes to 174, eventually the server will be at about 180+ making it really hard for non-premiums; like myself to be able to get on, I do like the idea if you are the 1-3 person in the queue. There will definitely be pros and cons about this and maybe the cons outweigh the pros on this however in a nutshell it does sound beneficial.
