'If the spirit is with us, who can stand against us'
History-
The creation of the Black Regiment dates all the way back to 210 AC following the skirmishes in Basta between de Paquet and d'Gosselin. The identity of the Black Regiment today comes the most from the mercenary company and the Regiment's namesake known as the Black Army.
The Black Army was a mercenary band in service of the Empire and took as one of the many armies subjugating non-Ailor in the wars of the Empire. The gruesome conflicts and exposure to the worst of all races of Aloria have left its members xenophobic and hateful. The warband would be known for its heavy use of Anglian Longbows and cruelty, having taken part in many campaigns until the final defeat of the Black Army in 290 AC by overwhelming numbers and attrition. After the Black Army was disbanded its leader Gregoire Gagneux and his men returned to the village they came from: Villechauve.
Many of the former mercenaries were unable to put down the sword and pick up the scythe, leading to the decision to take up service as guardsmen. The men of Villechauve found themselves in the Crown City in 306 AC. However, the murder of Gregoire, the and some of his close companions sparked revanchism in the former members of the Black Army.
In 306 AC Duke d'Gosselin gathered his retinue to the holy city, to protect his own interests and that of the Synod. Upon his untimely demise at the start of the Vampire Crisis of 306 AC, the eSepulchrelchure seems on the verge of total collapse, with only a few scattered members remaining to carry on the mission. The Black Regiment as a mercenary company exists as the brute force of the Blackguard, with higher ranking members retaining the more direct service to the Synod and the remnants of the d'Goss family. The Black Regiment and Knights collectively referred to as the Black Sepulchre or the Blackguard, does battle unto the heretic, in particular vampires, and the impure, tirelessly as a brute fist of the Synod and the Empire.

Purpose -
The Black Sepulchre is a militant guard order, headed by Knights and primarily adherent to the Code of Gosselle. Underneath is a peasant levy that when unchecked is violent and oppressive.
The Order specializes in raiding high profile criminal organizations or heretics. Even going as far as to engage other organizations or even houses on order of the Synod to catch and detain all individuals deemed as sinful, either to the law or church. The chapter also prepares for riots inside the city and other armed uprisings that may form. The Sepulchre works as an Imperial apparatus that serves the empire rather than its people, often taking on frowned upon tasks for the betterment of the Empire as a whole.
The Order seemingly does not conduct much in the way of investigation and paperwork and acts with brute force primarily to protect its interests.

Doctrine-
Like a knight order, the Black Sepulchre shares the philosophy with a large portion of the levy trained in the School of Wapnbog. The Regiment retains its mobility by using grappling hooks for better combat positioning. In addition, the Black Regiment employs both black powder and alchemy as tools during operations. Everything in the Black Regiment is focused on defeating gangs and other armed groups with overwhelming force. Lending the majority of their forces poorly to chasing the multitude of criminals in the city.
The Knights of the Sepulchre are very militaristic and orderly style with tight formations and centralized leadership and hierarchy. Furthermore, the chapter is poor at de-escalating situations. Often the Regiment strikes first and with disproportional force with excessive brutality.

Structure of the Black Sepulchre-
As a relatively specialized and small order in the metropolitan city of Regalia the ranking structure is fairly straightforward for the Knights of the Order, while the Regiment levy practices a more mercenary band inspired ranking scheme.
The Knight Grandmaster:
The Knight Grandmaster is the overarching leader of the chapter and maintains their duty as they see fit. They ultimately, like the entire Chapter, serve the Synod and the State. The Knight Grandmaster is always a Villiers-Eclaire knight. In the absence of a Villiers-Eclaire Knight Grandmaster, a steward among the Knight Captains may take temporary leadership of the chapter. , This position is currently filled by Jared Kade.
The Knight Captains:
Knight Captains are each in order of succession for new grandmaster if the former individual parishes. Knight Captains are hand-picked from the Black Knights and tend to be Villers-Eclaire Knights. They are the best of the best, the elite among the Black Knights, and often lead the Chapter when the Knight Grandmaster is not available. They receive a unique item, usually made of Blacksteel, upon receiving this honour.
The Black Knights
Black Knights are highly autonomous and independent, loyal to the Synod and beholden to the Knight Grandmaster in exchange for authority inside the city. Usually with their own retinue and connections to independently work towards the greater mandate of the Synod. The exact function they exercise depends on their connections and influence. The Black Knights of the Sepulchre can of any Knighthood or School, as long as they're pure Unionist. The exact skill and role of each Knight is unique to them, but can only be achieved through an act of grand importance. These individuals are usually hand-picked by the Knight Grandmaster of the Black Regiment.
The Black Regiment:
The Black Regiment is far more "open" than the Knight ranks, though for obvious reasons Ailor Unionists make up the bulk of the ranks. A rank in the Black Regiment consists of two parts. The first part is a standard rank in typical Anglian format, followed by one's role in the chapter. To progress to a Black Knight, they must attain the rank of Koronel and do a particular wonderous deed, decided by the Knight Grandmaster. They are led by a Field Commander, who leads the Regiment within the Field. This position is filled by Commandeur Kwartiermeester Asher Koning. @AtomicKarate
