• Inventory Split Incoming

MassiveCraft will be implementing an inventory split across game modes to improve fairness, balance, and player experience. Each game mode (Roleplay and Survival) will have its own dedicated inventory going forward. To help players prepare, we’ve opened a special storage system to safeguard important items during the transition. For full details, read the announcement here: Game Mode Inventory Split blog post.

Your current inventories, backpacks, and ender chest are in the shared Medieval inventory. When the new Roleplay inventory is created and assigned to the roleplay world(s) you will lose access to your currently stored items.

    Important Dates

    • April 1: Trunk storage opens.
    • May 25: Final day to submit items for storage.
    • June 1: Inventories are officially split.

Please make sure to submit any items you wish to preserve in the trunk storage or one of the roleplay worlds before the deadline. After the split, inventories will no longer carry over between game modes.

OOC Information:
The Elwind Bannermen are elite shock troops that will raise guard and sellsword morale with their banners, flying high, and ringing blades slicing low. They will protect the citizens from ANY threat, at the cost of ther lives. Retreat is NOT an option. It will be punished with the highest and most severe penalty possible. They are supposed to be highly skilled with blade and heavy armor alike, and are called in as sort of a "SWAT Team" to the guards "Police" Each has a banner (Of the guard charter they serve in)

They would have the following loadout: Leather Helm, Iron Chestplate, Leather Leggings, Iron Boots.
Mainhand: Longsword
Offhand: Banner

So... What do YOU guys think?

Tag something here with @soldier_of_sky and your questions/comments. (Please note, I look forward to constructive critisism, not sarcastic and snarky remarks.)

Please, all admins, I most humbly ask you to voice your thoughts, and what needs to be changed/added. In time, I imagine this to be as much of a part of Massivecraft as the Guards are. I thank you all.

Also, if William Coen would like to take this whole thing over, and be the leader of this too, that's fine by me... As long as my char, Adrian Maximillian dei Elwind gets a place here too. (I'm in NO place to be negotiating with you admins, and you probably think it's completely stupid, and you're gonna shut it down, without any reason whatsoever, just because, but please. I am sincerely ON MY KNEES begging you guys [and girls I guess too. Can't leave you out] to consider this with an open mind, as if another admin was coming to you with this idea. At least give me that neutrality. Please)

@ElderShrub what do you think about this, old friend? (Yes, I used my username for recognizability) Do you support this I know you have a kind of "Sway" when it comes to internal server matters.

is this supposed to be the guards but stronger? why would you need a stronger guard??

also, for future reference, try using @Lore instead of individually tagging everyone

Well, there's no point to say anything then?

While I'm all for seeing more of a military presence in Regalia, this is not the way to go about it. In fact, the way this is brought up is the exact definition of powergaming. There is no way that a massive army could just waltz right into the capitol city of military-inclined Regalia in the current setting and start helping out.

Also, I don't see any valued reason to add yet another army to the RP scene. Right now, there are 5 armies that are played in RP, all of them having some members in the Regalian Guard. If a military inclined character wanted to function in Regalia, they should go this route.

Or if the guard doesn't seem right, then apply as a mercenary band. Or attempt to make a charter organization.

But definitely do not go about bringing a military group this way. The way this was wording was more like "Do this for me because I want it" instead of "I would like to suggest that we have another military group in the city, and this is why it is unique."

I've provided my reasons why this military group is not needed in RP. There are other groups that fill this niche (in my opinion we don't ever need another combat group in regalia because every niche has been filled).

I would suggest looking into the city guard that is already in place, because despite the term "guard," most members of the Bluesteel Order are professional soldiers.

@soldier_of_sky

I do want to be at least a little bit constructive, so I'm not going to leave this post by telling you that you've posted this in the wrong section.

But you've posted this in the wrong section.

Before I get into the bulk of what I wish to tell you, I also need to comment that you likely should not have tagged most of the staff that you did. In fact, you likely shouldn't have tagged any at all. If they find that they have something to say, they will say it, no need to tag them and specifically ask them to do so. But for future reference, tag the lore staff with @Lore instead of tagging all staff, a good few of whom are not lore staff. Unless.. you just wanted to tag staff for the sake of staff, in which case good on you.

Into what I really intended to talk about: your guard system.

Firstly, I'd like to address that your idea of this group being "the SWAT team of the guards" seems a tad... off. Despite your claims that they are trained in heavy armor, the armor that you described to us (leather helm, iron chest plate, etc) is hardly heavy gear. In fact, the current guard of regalia uses far superior armor. So if you want for your group to be an accurate swat team, you will need to amp up the armor, which is nearly impossible due to the amount of coin you would need to outdo the Regalian Guard in terms of gear. This just isn't going to happen.

Guard armor reference

Bluesteel link, seeing as it is used by the Guard.

Link to Guard wiki, because why not.

Additionally (in my personal opinion), your choice of weapon is poor for a organization that is supposedly called in when the normal (and far superiorly geared up) Guard fails. Someone's skill with a sword should never realistically be very high, due to it being an overall shit weapon. Although to your credit, you did use a longsword, which is better than a shortsword. Regardless, a spear is every bit as long (if not longer), costs less, takes less training, and controls far better. It just seems more logical to use a spear, or some other pole-armed weapon.

Thirdly, the concept of "Fight or die!" will never (not once) be a reliable aspect of this group. If three of these members run into a fully geared gang and are outnumbered ten to one, I doubt a single player will say "Lol, my character is totally going to fight to the death for keks", because a charter with a handful of members is hardly worth losing a good character to (and if the character isn't good, I doubt't you'd want them in your charter anyhow). If you expect for your charter to kick off, I suggest you keep your rules realistic.

Fourthly, instead of making a charter that resides within a charter for the sole purpose of saying "Look at me, I'm special because I'm better!!", why not become a guard like the rest of the player base, and simply build a reputation of taking high-risk missions or whatever you intend for this group to do? That seems like the better option here.

Fifthly, what kind of insane combat do you think exists in Regalia that the Guard is so outpaced by, that they would need a small band of similarly trained warriors to rush in and do the exact same thing that the Guard can do? If a Guard unit cannot handle a problem, they don't need to call in SWAT unit, they just call in another unit.

I'm sorry if this doesn't make any sense, things are a bit distracting down here, so my writing isn't going to be the best.

I want to state (or restate, incase I've already stated it) that I don't mean to push you down here. If the things I say are insulting, I do not mean for them to be. I intend for this to be as constructive as I can manage to make it.

Hello! I have been summoned?

Firstly, I would like to think I don't have too much sway on internal matters honestly, unless it pertains to my specific area of play. This is mostly guard stuff so I wouldn't really know how to handle it. Still, that's useless advice so lets see. What others have said does apply, this is too similar to the existing guard orders. They already are supposed to full the roll of the 'noble knight' characters (very well might I add.) However don't let this discourage you. You just need to find a new niche to fill.

I don't know how or if one can make their own guard charters right now but if so, perhaps a charter built around a certain nationality or core idea. Like how the Hammers were the charter of choice for northerners. Another idea I've seen tried is to create a group of sellswords for those too violent, dishonoured, non Ailor, or otherwise ineligible for joining the Bluesteels to work towards either being hired out for the protection of nobles and merchants, or assisting the guards in general things. These are of course not the only ideas, do what you think would be cool.

However, keep the following in mind. In order to make a successful organisation you need to make everyone feel more awesome by it's existence. Members of your organisation should feel in some way important, even low ranking members. Other people working with your organisation from outside it, such as the guards, should also feel more important and enjoy working with the skills of your organisation, rather than having their skills overshadowed by it.

This doesn't belong in General, even if this was an actual thing. Please, before posting things like this on the forums make sure you're familiar with the lore and rules. Thanks <3

I skimmed through what you've wrote. All I saw was you begging for staff to make this canon. Here's all of the things that I saw:

Yes... It's a MASS ADMIN SUMMONING!!!
I'd prefer if every admin saw this and left AT LEAST one comment on this. Thank you so much. It so nice that you admins tend to comment on public stuff. Nice community.

Also... Any other admins? (I'll add them to this list.)
Thanks again.
You've also tagged staff who don't even work on the lore, and you haven't even tagged Billy. I'd just try and get yourself out there, and try to roleplay with others.

you're gonna shut it down, without any reason whatsoever,
I mean putting this in there automatically makes me more inclined to not read it. If you insult the people you're trying to get something from, chances are they aren't going to want to help, but I'll give my two cents on this anyway.

I think what you're doing may have some potential, but you're going about it the complete wrong way. Firstly, random commoners on the street don't have a way of making up guard organizations. If you want a charter, go through the proper channels of doing so instead of just proclaiming yourself one. Secondly, making a post on the forum with tags to a long list of staff members isn't a good idea either, since half of the ones you tagged aren't in the lore department. Use @Lore for future reference.

I know that simply pointing out what you're doing wrong can be frustrating, so now I'm going to offer you some advice that I think could help; get experience. Try applying for different groups like the guard or even some of the gangs. This can be a huge help because you can see what they're doing good with their organizations, and with time you may be able to apply what you learned to one of your own.

So, @soldier_of_sky
I came across this, and I see a nice concept, portrayed from a new player. I won't criticize it, since I believe that you have already heard enough criticism, and I'd really only be beating a dead horse, so instead I'll go into detail of how you can pursue this dream.

Now, the first thing you'll want to do is simply roleplay. Easier said than done, however. You want to roleplay with the right people, and make yourself known as a good roleplayer. The golden rule of Roleplay, in my opinion, is taking real life into consideration. Obviously, Aloria is not real life, though you still should treat it as if your life is at stake, and there will he lasting consequences. The wiki will also be your friend, especially pages on races, weapons, fighting styles, alchemy, and so on. Also reading up on things in a current RP can be great. As a rule of thumb, before doing anything outside what seems safe, always check with someone, or the wiki.
As for who is a good idea to roleplay with, Nobility and Guards are a great few groups. Of course, don't be unrealistic in pressing yourself on them, but just sort of hang around the type, and watch what they do.

Once you're reasonably well heard of, and hold a decent reputation, you could proceed in pursuing your Heavy Guard officially. It would be a good idea to gather a small following for it, then speak with a Lore Staff or me about how to proceed with getting it canonized.

If you're interested, also do research on Medieval warfare and weapons. I find the Youtube channel Lindybeige to be quite informative on Medieval weapons and armor, maybe you could find use from it.

Over all, I believe that, to put it quite plainly, you are a bit inexperienced. There's nothing wrong with that, everyone starts there, but what's important is learning how to move on and improve. With time, a Guard Chapter like this will be very possible for you, but as of right now, it is a good idea to learn the basics, and work your way up.

Best of luck in your adventures, and I hope that you find this constructive. If you ever need help or advice, feel free to PM me IG, or on the forums.
