• Inventory Split Incoming

    MassiveCraft will be implementing an inventory split across game modes to improve fairness, balance, and player experience. Each game mode (Roleplay and Survival) will have its own dedicated inventory going forward. To help players prepare, we’ve opened a special storage system to safeguard important items during the transition. For full details, read the announcement here: Game Mode Inventory Split blog post.

    Your current inventories, backpacks, and ender chest are in the shared Medieval inventory. When the new Roleplay inventory is created and assigned to the roleplay world(s) you will lose access to your currently stored items.

    Important Dates

    • April 1: Trunk storage opens.
    • May 25: Final day to submit items for storage.
    • June 1: Inventories are officially split.

    Please make sure to submit any items you wish to preserve in the trunk storage or one of the roleplay worlds before the deadline. After the split, inventories will no longer carry over between game modes.

This has most likely been suggested before, but I would like to bring this to attention once again. I think that it would be a wonderful idea to have more factions ranks than just leader, officer, and member. At the very least more default ranks can be added to the plugin to provide more diversity and status within a faction. An even better idea would be to give full control to the faction and allow the ability to create custom ranks, and adjusting every possible permission for each rank (so for instance you can have a leader, and a co-leader with identical permissions).

Cayorion, the owner of Massivecraft and the creator of factions, has already stated that he will work on and perfect the factions plugin AFTER he has finished his server sharding. We are all looking forward to this but unfortunately we need to wait for now.
 
I wish officers could have assistants, just like leaders have their officers.
 
I like Ikorolch's idea better :P Giving a faction the ability to create their own ranks with set privileges.
 
From my understanding(Tom told me), Cayorion is working on a huge project which will take up to a year. The project makes every map have a server of it's own - Ceardia, Daendroc and Ellador being different servers. However you will be able to TP as usual between worlds and I believe the chat will be synced. Not sure if this is correct but it's what I understood :D

That's pretty cool. It would be a big deal to be able to have multiple servers running as a single server, or even coordinating themselves as a single server.
 
Sounds like the Hamachi project all over again :)
 
Probably spelled it wrong, but basically (As far as I have been taught) it is a set of databases connected to one master one - So you don't have to really worry about a database overload, you can always transfer it over to an open one :)
 
That is exactly why Cayorion is utilizing it :)

Server sharding ? I have 7 years in IT, why not use a server cluster with load balancing ? it's a function of Windows, and Linux, very easy to setup, and manage. Unless I'm missing something why try and re-invent the wheel ?

You understood correctly.

You misunderstood what "sharding" meant in this context. Read the quote above.

Mojang's server does that :D My brother played on it. It's really cool, with it, they hold like 6,000 people.
 
Will be considered in the eventual rewrite of factions.
