• Inventory Split Incoming

MassiveCraft will be implementing an inventory split across game modes to improve fairness, balance, and player experience. Each game mode (Roleplay and Survival) will have its own dedicated inventory going forward. To help players prepare, we’ve opened a special storage system to safeguard important items during the transition. For full details, read the announcement here: Game Mode Inventory Split blog post.

Your current inventories, backpacks, and ender chest are in the shared Medieval inventory. When the new Roleplay inventory is created and assigned to the roleplay world(s) you will lose access to your currently stored items.

    Important Dates

    • April 1: Trunk storage opens.
    • May 25: Final day to submit items for storage.
    • June 1: Inventories are officially split.

Please make sure to submit any items you wish to preserve in the trunk storage or one of the roleplay worlds before the deadline. After the split, inventories will no longer carry over between game modes.

I have always admired the Daily Creeper, it adds a wonderful layer of immersion to the MassiveCraft community. However if I'm not mistaken, the Daily Creeper is OOC with IC advertisements. This has made me question the viability of IC Regalian news agencies akin to the Daily Creeper. That could have the possibility of recruiting actual characters to procure stories or write articles for a newspaper published on the forums.

This would be advantageous to people who love digging up information about people or places in the city, as well as give the rest of the community regular and in-character pertinent content to read. It would provide another layer of immersion and life to the role-play scene.

Since a newspaper is mass produced, a printing press might actually be viable for such a purpose. A team of scribes would also work if current printing technology is unable to accommodate weekly or daily changes in the production of reading material.

I imagine that the creation of one of these 'news agencies' would be akin to creating a Charter which requests media distribution rights from the regalian government. If you have any other ideas on how a system like this could be set up let me know! All in all I feel that player produced content in a fully IC newspaper would be a wonderful addition to the immersion of the alorian role-play universe.

So what do you think? Is this a viable option? I would love to hear what other players, and especially staff have to say about this idea.

It's viable, and there have been a few businesses that have done just that in the past. Literally all you need to do is do it. There's really nothing stopping you from doing it IC (besides maybe not knowing how to write in the first place)

The only thing of note is to factor in the Regalian setting.

Media in the form of papers and pamphlets is quite an interesting idea.
Consider however that there are quite a few of the peasantry and even some of the nobility that are unable to read.
Will you focus solely on the higher classes of society with your writing. That might set a precedent for whatever may be covered.
Or will you keep it broad and perhaps employ town criers to inform the illiterate masses?

All in all, a pretty cool idea, I think it has quite a lot of potential.

I think the town criers idea might have merit due to the number of citizens that cannot read.

One thing I want to mention for you is that all printing presses are owned and regulated by the government. If you wish to print using this method, know that everything has to be "Regalia friendly" which is generally loose, just with some regulations for obvious unfriendly works like anti Imperial propaganda.

I'm actually going to wait to say I have a printing press until I apply and become, because it will happen, an approved charter. It would make more sense then imo.
