• Inventory Split Incoming

MassiveCraft will be implementing an inventory split across game modes to improve fairness, balance, and player experience. Each game mode (Roleplay and Survival) will have its own dedicated inventory going forward. To help players prepare, we’ve opened a special storage system to safeguard important items during the transition. For full details, read the announcement here: Game Mode Inventory Split blog post.

Your current inventories, backpacks, and ender chest are in the shared Medieval inventory. When the new Roleplay inventory is created and assigned to the roleplay world(s) you will lose access to your currently stored items.

    Important Dates

    • April 1: Trunk storage opens.
    • May 25: Final day to submit items for storage.
    • June 1: Inventories are officially split.

Please make sure to submit any items you wish to preserve in the trunk storage or one of the roleplay worlds before the deadline. After the split, inventories will no longer carry over between game modes.

Is The Reset Working?

Just wondering if the reset is having the desired effects. I've enjoyed it so far, but the server pop seems a little lower the last few weeks. Seems like we are here to stay though. I don't plan on going anywhere, but when I log in and can't find any rp'ers in the tavern i get a little worried. Thoughts?

I think it'll pick back up again after sharding is re-completed. We'll have 20 tps again, hopefully.

The server at the moment is back down to pre-reset numbers but I really blame that down to one issue - the TPS. As Marty said, the TPS is pretty bad and one of the main activities that keeps factions servers alive is PvP. This PvP cannot take place due to the low TPS, making it impossible to do basic PvP tasks.

Once this TPS improves, which it should once sharding is re-implemented, PvP will slowly return to the factions side of the server. The Game Department have been working on Crisis of Kings, bringing new incentives to the competition to encourage more PvP to take place and we will also launch plans to return PvP tournaments and Kit PvP to the server once the TPS is restored - that has always been our goal. The old system of having monthly tournaments is not dead and we have every intention on picking back up on it.

I understand this thread talks about the tavern but I just felt as the lead of the department that involves itself the heaviest with Survival, I would give my input on the Survival side of things. In essence, the server is currently doing okay and I think it will get ten times better once sharding, Crisis of Kings (hint hint) and PvP oriented events are reinstated.

School has started, which does offer an explanation for the lowish player count.

I'm not going to act like it isn't something to be concerned about- but it does have explanations other than "massive is dying lolez" that some people seem to think, and ones that can be solved (TPS for example).

I thought sharding was bad? Did that idea change or am I misinformed?

Sharding is not bad, it's expensive. The resource usage of MassiveSharding is quite high, too high in fact and Tech are working on a solution to make it more affordable and less resource intensive - so that it can be easily deployed across the network. Sharding is a good change, we want sharding. It improves performace, but also has so many benefits for staff work etc.

There's school which has made many busy! I'm sure once people get into their normal routines and the likes, the population will increase. Following this: people have normally set times that they get on at.

For me And this is from a survival point of view, in my eyes massive has become townyish, the lag doesn't help obviously but the lack of incentives, pr and lack of youtubers doesn't help either, as I told a certain staff member a few days back, if it came to it I'd even sponsor a youtuber, just to even get some life and excitement flowing again!

The roleplay lost its soul, I felt when I tried to log on and do/see stuff. This is not the same Regalia as it was for years.

I discussed the topic with some people recently and gladly go into detail if asked to.

I also feel perhaps the new Regalia which is under construction and I believe will be going through may help the player base become a bit more active. I hope this reflects well on the faction worlds as well and helps activity there. Many roleplayers are a part of the factions and if they get more active due to Regalia perhaps they will be more active in factions.

Good point, however in my experience rpers who are members of factions actually never communicate with their faction or even visit it, the odd time to use storage but that's it

Very true. I can certainly consider myself guilty of such. Though some make it work and hopefully there exists some difference
