History:
Early History:
House Salann started out quite early on as one of the original Claith families that presided over Ériu-Innis, growing quite quickly in numbers in the centuries they were left undiscovered for. Not much else is known about them during this time apart from what the Elders of the family speaks of, which is generally the family being an early powerhouse over many of the other families that were formed. This power stuck for many generations until matters began to even out over the years, the Salann family now becoming equals with other Claith. While this was somewhat strange for them, it didn't quite matter, the family continuing to stick to themselves and interacting with others when necessary.
House Salann was generally quiet in terms of conflict within the confines of Ériu-Innis for many years, only having interacted with other families for the case of intermarriage and trade. The lands they owned were covered in their own buildings, crop-fields and training grounds for the various brutes of the family, along with multiple emerald mines to which the family left for the time being as they had no use for the gem as of yet.

Contact with Regalians:
While being left alone in their own part of the upper isles for hundreds of years, the Regalians that arrived and 'discovered' the island intrigued them beyond belief. A few members of the family volunteered to leave the island for a short time and return to Regalia, wanting to see the outside world along with this new land. Once they did return, they told of the spoils and wonderful lands the foreigners had. The family began to interact with the Regalians more often now, though still kept their resources to themselves, not wishing to provide for them so early on.
House Salann went quiet for many more years after the initial meeting, in terms of prominent actions anyway. They aided the Regalians when needed, though supplied their own food and water, along with their own furs. Once the Regalians began their expedition however, and discovered the veins of emeralds near the Salann lands that were in the slopes of Dál Riata. While the family wasn't going to stop the Regalians from mining there as they attempted to occupy the island, they did try to steer them away to the other veins that could be found to no real avail.
The family began to mine the emeralds, just the same as the Regalians, though preferred to keep the gems for themselves, hiding them away from the foreigners. The famine that soon came to the island didn't affect the Salanns too negatively as they kept their own supplies to themselves, not supplying the foreigners and left the other families to do such. As Regalians were called away from the island, House Salann took the opportunity and locked down the emerald mining business as best they could. Many members of the family continued to travel to Regalia and its respected lands, learning more of their ways and most importantly trade. As both the members of the family in Regalian lands and on Ériu-Innis learned of the actual cost of emeralds through eavesdropping and actual conversation, the family decided it would be best to sell the emeralds themselves instead of trading for simple supplies.
The house bloomed with this, gaining more coin than many of the other Claith families. The Regalians had some distaste for what the family was doing, considering other families could be tipped off and they would lose their easy coin, though nothing was actually done as they slipped coin off to various traders they soon partnered with.

Recent History:
House Salann still hold a steady lock down on their portion of the emerald trade, growing somewhat concerned as signs of the veins beginning to run dry have started to show. More of the family have began to leave the isles as their numbers grow, the elders and members that have stayed not too worried of their culture fading given the family's stubbornness.
The house has also began to start reaching out into other trades to keep up their wealth, most notably; mercenary work and brewing. Though some members of the family have been known to make their way into the various government charters that reside in the Holy City.

Physical Traits:

Mental Traits:
Each and every member of the family, regardless of gender are not so surprisingly stubborn and prideful. They rarely back down from a challenge, nor do they wish to conform to the typical social standing of Regalia. Other than such, the family members are each different, no other mentality traits defining the lot of them.

Additional Notes:
Most members of the family have a wolfhound as a pet, which they typically raise from a pup. If they ever lose the hound through some tragedy other than old age, the specific member of the family is usually shamed and beaten for their recklessness. Mourning's for the lost pets are not uncommon as they are practically a member of the family.
