FROM THE DESK OF HIS HIGH EMINENCE
THE LORD CHANCELLOR OF THE REGALIAN EMPIRE
A PUBLIC STATEMENT

With the previous week passing, the I am pleased to report that all personal debts owed to and from the State have been settled. After tabulating all the changes in income, the State Bank has been lowered by roughly 80,000 Regals. The direct consequence of this change in debt is the weekly Deficit Burden, which has seen a 16% drop in interest payments owed this week. As time goes by, we expect to see this burden reduced, until we return to a positive balance for the State Bank.

To this end, I would like to personally thank the Houses Viduggla, Peirgarten, Harhold, and Black, the former three for settling their debts with the State, and the latter for their generosity in contributing to the quick reduction of the State Debt.

As a final note to finances, I wish to make an apology for a few clerical errors in announcing the changes to the taxation levels. In summary my previous decree has announced that a temporary 10% recovery tax be imposed on all Archipelago States, after which four weeks from now the tax shall be rescinded. I have also granted the following houses exemption status:

  • House Lampero due to their current exception arrangement with the Regalian State
  • House Delmotte due to an arrangement between his Eminence and the State in settling debts owed
  • House Harhold due to the current Penalty Taxes currently causing economic stagnation for the Baron, to which his Lordship will be making an alternative arrangement with the State.
Based on the current projections if the recovery tax is adhered to by all required parties, we will be able to turn a positive result by the next three weeks as scheduled. This said, donations such as the one made by House Black are able to further reduce this recovery period. With a desire for quick recovery, I promise that should the Regalian State's Bank return to a positive value before three weeks' time, the recovery tax will be repealed early.

With that, I ask that all the Archipelago States which are to contribute in this recovery tax to arrange these changes locally within the week, and know that by making a short sacrifice in the short run, the Empire will be able to grow stronger than it ever has before.

This new recovery tax level of 30% shall go into effect immediately.

SIGNED AND STAMPED,
His High Eminence Dietrich I by the Grace of the Spirit
Lord Chancellor of the Regalian Empire
March-Elector of the Drachenwald Lordship

OOC Notes
  • State tax is now 30% for everyone except Lampero, Delmotte, and Harhold, who maintain their current levels
  • Please specify in noble orders this week that you are raising the tax level. While players are able to choose between 20% and 30%, there will be IC consequences to those who shirk their payments.
