• Inventory Split Incoming

MassiveCraft will be implementing an inventory split across game modes to improve fairness, balance, and player experience. Each game mode (Roleplay and Survival) will have its own dedicated inventory going forward. To help players prepare, we’ve opened a special storage system to safeguard important items during the transition. For full details, read the announcement here: Game Mode Inventory Split blog post.

Your current inventories, backpacks, and ender chest are in the shared Medieval inventory. When the new Roleplay inventory is created and assigned to the roleplay world(s) you will lose access to your currently stored items.

    Important Dates

    • April 1: Trunk storage opens.
    • May 25: Final day to submit items for storage.
    • June 1: Inventories are officially split.

Please make sure to submit any items you wish to preserve in the trunk storage or one of the roleplay worlds before the deadline. After the split, inventories will no longer carry over between game modes.

This would normally go on a Wiki Update thread, but it's a major change that could affect all Combat Skill Characters, so worth posting separately.

Reason:

  • We've been struggling with the issue of 10million Experts for several months now, and from our perspective, the inverted pyramid of skill composition has always been a problem, that's to say, the fact that the vast majority of the characters applied for were always Expert save for a daring few who wanted a character development narrative. With the introduction of Magic, we realized that the solution is really quite simple. Magic already solved the problem by the invention of "Hero" characters, characters that are truly unique because the amount of people that have the same levels and skills can be counted on two hands. In order to do this with combat, we initially discussed locking Expert to applications only, but eventually realized that taking something away from a lot of players and then pointing at a couple of them to be permitted to keep it, was not a good way to go about it. Instead, we renamed Expert to Champion (to also emphasize that being a Champion does not mean you focus your life 100% on it, thus allowing a bit more leeway in the future when it comes to pollinating with Intellect and Subterfuge Schools) and then also adding the overbearing Grandmaster rank which takes the combat school to the next level of skill to that of a "Hero".
Links:
Currently converted:
  • Blackmark
  • Feer-Drakken
  • Mariposa
  • Breer
  • Turall
  • Viridian
  • Lancyon
  • Skagger
Yet to convert:
  • Siegwald
  • Tenpenny
  • Vasara
  • Bloodcast
  • Rangers
  • Wallla
  • Ha'kix
  • Griffer
  • Drixon
  • Lecgaen
  • Draklak
  • Wapnbog
  • Avant

Effects:
  • Renamed Expert Combat Skill to Champion.
  • Changed all Expert references to Champion.
  • Changed the Forum Forms buttons to Champion (from Expert)
  • Created a new Grandmaster rank for all Combat Schools.
  • Locked said Grandmaster rank to permission only similar to Magic.
  • Gave Grandmaster a skill that sets them apart from their regular peers.
Player Effects:
Absolutely none

  • While we changed Expert to Champion, no permissions are being revoked and nobody needs to worry about reworking their app/re posting their special permission. Old threads with the term "Expert" remain valid in all circumstances.
  • Currently ongoing applications will also still be judged with the word Expert, but you may change it to Champion if you like.
  • All future reviews and re-reviews will require the term Champion to be used where applicable.
For the actual Grandmaster Permission Application:
If your Combat School is currently not yet converted, you may apply anyway. Often the conversion is pretty painless and just adds a new skill.

isnt this what was done with magic
which worked out quite effectively

edit: feer-drakken one hand greatswords, skagger berserk without actually losing focus or anything (which means they're just... really angry??), mariposa are ninjas, i really hope i'm misreading turall by thinking it says they can use swords like throwing knives, and viridians are dual wielding longswords
guys you're a few months late for april fools

Finished All Combat School conversions. Updated this page:
To now include all combat schools (there was a strange category issue), also updated all pages to include the proper sub school categories and artwork for the banners for the schools.

Also modified a few Grandmaster skill definitions based on unhelpful, sassy and passive aggressive negative feedback.
