• Inventory Split Incoming

MassiveCraft will be implementing an inventory split across game modes to improve fairness, balance, and player experience. Each game mode (Roleplay and Survival) will have its own dedicated inventory going forward. To help players prepare, we’ve opened a special storage system to safeguard important items during the transition. For full details, read the announcement here: Game Mode Inventory Split blog post.

Your current inventories, backpacks, and ender chest are in the shared Medieval inventory. When the new Roleplay inventory is created and assigned to the roleplay world(s) you will lose access to your currently stored items.

    Important Dates

    • April 1: Trunk storage opens.
    • May 25: Final day to submit items for storage.
    • June 1: Inventories are officially split.

Please make sure to submit any items you wish to preserve in the trunk storage or one of the roleplay worlds before the deadline. After the split, inventories will no longer carry over between game modes.

Character Design Quiz

  • Who's the oldest character of yours that you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore? Katrina is my oldest character, at fifty two, though I do plan on making a senile old nelfin-- Probably a Cielothar.
  • Has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself? Generally, yes. I find it hard to play characters who don't reflect parts of my personality since I'm not an empathetic person-- Though I am working on this, slowly but surely and massivecraft has helped me with such.
  • Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why? I enjoy making Nelfin characters above all else, due to the fact there is a wide variety of subraces to go for. It's also quite fun to play a species not particularly liked in character.
  • When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first? Personality always! Then my mind weaves an image of the character around their persona.
  • Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle? I once had a character called Elric. He was a cielothar, a sweetie. He was so kind and innocent that even when I got bored of him, I didn't want to let him go. After a while, I decided to make his death somewhat humorous in a way that I would always remember him; he was crushed to death whilst trying to hug an orc.
  • Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had? Grub mainly. He's so docile and simplistic. He doesn't overlook things and he's a kind, loyal person who tries to break free from stereotypes. Very little seems to get him down (apart from when he is hit over the head with a chair). Whilst he doesn't let the traits of his family affect who he is, he still takes them into consideration whilst forging a new path for himself.
  • Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits? Katrina-- Most certainly. She's vindictive, manipulative and generally a bit of an a-hole. Like me at times, she lacks the empathy that I do.
  • If you have characters that embody certain traits of yours—good or bad—has writing them changed how you view those traits? Has it affected you in any way? Yes, in a more powerful way than I initially imagined. Writing up Kat and RPing as her allowed me to look into myself. My thoughts and feelings. I was very self depreciating before, but now I look upon my traits with a positive view.
  • Do you create playlists for your characters? Do you ever create Pinterest mood boards? If so, link them! I do make playlists, multiple ones for each character. For now, I will give you their songs. Katrina- Ashes Remain- On My own. Grub- Happy. Elric (Bless his soul)- Chaccaron Maccaron.
  • When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset? I often find it hard to switch between characters without listening to their songs or reading through their character apps again.
  • Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them? Mainly Raja Ahmad- @Betel. I love the aesthetic of Raja but I can never seem to find her in character. RIP me.
  • Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC? @SlyChung 's characters are normally the antithesis of my own, meaning my characters typically hate hers. (I love you OOCly, Sly bby) Due to the way she plays them, it is always fun to RP with her, and watch our characters quarrel.
  • If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends! @MantaRey who plays Seris Devesiara. I found that when I read her app, her features resembled her persona to a 'T', and is unique when it comes to more than just her eyes. It's hard to explain, but appearance wise, even without the eyes, Seris just stands out for me.
  • If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends! That would have to go to @Ryria with her excellent portrayal of Vivienne Ravenstad. Upon reading her app, and then witnessing her actions in RP, it is clear that Vivienne's innermost feelings in comparison to her visible ones are played to a 'T'.
  • Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is? Kat is excessively difficult to write about and draw, because of her constant changes in mood. On the outside, she can appear sweet while inside she's generally apathetic. It's rather tricky to portray these conflicting personas, but that makes it all the more entertaining.
  • Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about? Definitely a strategy based character when it comes to Military matters- That or a politician. I know little of wartime strategies, and am rather neutral myself when it comes to most political views.
  • What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character? Personality always. From there, I work out what they look like, and then their aesthetic, or moreso the air they have about them. For example, for grub, I pictured an aloof almost idiotic figure, with a kind heart. From there, I decided to have him sell flowers, and then I pictured him with an almost humorous gigantic frame.
  • Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them? I'm just happy to have my characters for the time being. I possess no skills in drawing or animation, so for now, I have few plans.

Who's the oldest character of yours that you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore?

  • Nal Roh is the oldest active character I have. Before him, I had Ayahoshi Tetsume and Lunan Moonchild. Neither of which I'm proud of.

Has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself?

  • No.

Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why?

  • I'd only ever make one character per race, so my spectrum is a bit wider. I have a passion for stronger races such as Dakkar and Orcs because they often come with simpler minds, easier Combat Roleplay, and are all around easier to portray.

When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first?

  • I usually have a vauge idea of what the character's persona will be, but it's the visual concept that becomes solidified first. Any concept I create before skinning and playing a character will usually flake away within a month and become a whole new (and much stronger) character.

Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle?

  • Right now I feel like that might be Borug. I love him to bits, but he was made to be an adventurer. With the lack of any exploration system for characters beyond the stricter rules of the Adventure System, Borug is essentally a dead concept. I'm working on an alternitive character to replace him.

Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had?

  • Nal Roh is the part of me that sees with it's heart and places others in high regard, where Borug is the passive, logical, and active part of me.

Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits?

  • Nal Roh amplifies my aggression, lack of knowledge, and emulates my habit of emotional self-suppression and the stubborn culture that my father's family grew up in, where Borug is a nod towards my exhaustion with real conflict and the urge to run away from it all. Narin is less me, and more what I'm afraid what I can become: my father. Hardcore narcissism and the objectivication/devaluation of women paired with false confidence and fits of inexplicable anger. I play him to minimalize my own anger, which in turn explains why he is the smallest, weakest, and least loved of my characters: an unfortunate subject of belittlement.

If you have characters that embody certain traits of yours—good or bad—has writing them changed how you view those traits? Has it affected you in any way?

  • No. It has only made them more clear.

Do you create playlists for your characters? Do you ever create Pinterest mood boards? If so, link them!

  • No.

When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset?

  • Nal Roh is most akin to myself. Reacting on impulse and emotion is what we both do. Narin is only properly played when I'm in a slump, or feeling particularly nasty.

Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them?

  • NA

Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC?

  • NA

If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!

  • I'd say @Gartono with Ikaiko Mordida. I just love his visual design.

If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!

  • NA

Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is?

  • Narin and Borug. Narin puts me in a foul mood while I play him and Borug lacks a purpose.

Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about?

  • The only thing I wish to do are the things I can do. If I can't do something, it's most likely due to the difficultyof roleplaying a skill I don't have, which is why I don't play characters with skills outside of the most basic abilities avalible to them.

What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character?

  • Unique personality. I want my character to stand out as an individual instead of as a fighter or a fashion model.

Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them?

I'm just happy to have them. Perhaps I'll write a story or two about them, but nothing much greater than that.

  • Who's the oldest character of yours that you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore? Conf Ladveer.
  • Has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself? A bit edgy but playing Conf made me realize I really need someone to care about or I stop caring about myself.
  • Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why? I try to play a variety, though generally I gravitate towards Ailor, simply because there are so many cultures that I can always find something new to play with them. There are more Ailor cultures than there are all other races /subraces imp pretty sure lol
  • When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first? Generally both. Ill sit down, think up some ideas, and sketch in SAI. I let the visuals inform the persona, and the persona inform the visuals, its a grab-bag.
  • Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle? Hearthor Baragi. Hes a bard, which is flat out impossible to really roleplay to be honest. Theres only so long you can sit and emote "Would play ___ music" before you want to die.
  • Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had? Conf Ladveer. Hes basically a self insert but twisted and corrupted. Not in the literal sense, but hes far more ruthless and cynical tan I am. That being said though hes also me playing up my own smarts, and hes way braver and more willing to risk things to gain things than I would be either.
  • Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits? Ara Luro is my trash-talk turned up to an 11- I hate being mean or coming off like a jerk so normally I keep that stuff limited to banter with friends, but when I play her I let my sass go full beast mode. James Arament is my bad innuendos and worse pickup lines and flirtations played to the max. Much to the dismay of everyone. And as I said, Conf is my mild cynicism blown way out of proportion.
  • If you have characters that embody certain traits of yours—good or bad—has writing them changed how you view those traits? Has it affected you in any way? I tend to take the mood of my characters, getting very invested in one or another for stretches of time. Conf often makes me depressed because jesus christ that man has been through the fire and getting into his mind set is scary at times. I tend to be happiest playing Ara or James because they are goofier and more... light hearted. As for how I view the traits, not majorly really. I grew up around RP, my dad played DND with a group since HE was in highschool so I was raised on it, so I have never really been affected by characters like that. Or maybe I was when I started but worked it all out of my system when I was like 8 because, raised on it. I do try to be more concious of myself though, playing a character gives you a new perspective on situations.
  • Do you create playlists for your characters? Do you ever create Pinterest mood boards? If so, link them! I have an edgy Nightcore playlist I use to draw to, thats themed on Conf Ladveer. I updated it over the last two years as events played out, so its like, a musical stream of his emotional state.
  • When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset? For Amar, I used to just type a few lines in his accent and I was fully in character. He had a thick, unique way of speaking that made it easy for me. For Conf, I just, do me. For Ara I imagine im half everyone else's height and pissed off.
  • Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolutely love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them? I dont have one really, though I love RPing with unique looking people. If I want to, I do, usually, unless I have something else going on.
  • Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC? I used to have an arch-nemesis ICly, an Altalar mage whose name I cant recall. He assaulted a child, and tried to kill Conf several times, as well as various other "atrocities" and associating with slavers and such. I always get this adrenaline rush when one of my characters gets invested heavily into a conflict, be it a sass-off, or a fight, or argument, or what have you. I was ALWAYS in that mode when fighting him. As for OOCly, It was, weird. I guess it reaffirms my slightly Social-Justice take on things. Though I try to apply logic to those situations first and foremost, I get swept up in things similarly to how my character does.
  • If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends! I have rubbish memory- I recognize people but dont remember them per say unless im looking at them again. I remember liking 8_Lucy_8 and Lilyplays' skins, I thought they looked aight. Beyond that my memory is crap.
  • If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends! OH GOD I forget the name but the crazy possessed lady that one of the Daddy users plays. The Quadir one. ... I cant even remember the persons UN atm im trash sorry.
  • Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is? James Arament. I love playing him because hes flirtatious and fun, and always gets into crap, but I also hate playing him for the same reasons. I am, very reserved in the whole, romancy-flirty area, so its... difficult.
  • Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about? A noble family almost entirely consisting of Ombrators. It would be so fun to try to play off and use to our advantage, but I've got too many things to juggle already, and its hard being a noble.
  • What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character? A combination of visual and personality. I want them to be a unique combination. There are probably a hundred sassy characters. There are probably a hundred Cielothar. But there is only one small sassy Cielothar (as far as I know). Ara.
  • Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them? I really want to do comics, or AMVs, etc with them eventually but im lazy.

Who's the oldest character of yours that you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore?

Probably Bjorn Haraldsson, but Gochnipunchni is a close second. In terms of older that I don't use.. Kagante Hiruko (Cringe)..

Has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself?

Not in the slightest

Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why?

I generally prefer making dwarves, mainly because I just feel that they are a bit more relatable.

When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first?

I generally just have a flash of inspiration, sketch up a skin, play for an hour, and if I like the idea, THEN I continue with it

Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle?

I am a horrible tyrannical overlord to my characters, if I stop playing them, "Off with their heads!"

Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had?

I try to keep away from myself when creating a character.

Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits?

When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset?

Accents. Are. King.

Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them?

If anyone? Probably @KiddingAround 's Nal Roh, the reason being that our two main characters are a bit incompatable.

Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC?

Nobody comes to mind

If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!

Honestly? @GrandVitaMorte 's... DAMN I forgot his name... Valdemar-something xD
(Sorry Grand)

If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!

Probably @DrFong 's Mysterious Fong, we roleplayed a bit (maybe 4-6 hours) and he always struck me as a incredibly well designed character.

Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is?

Gochnipunchni. His character design is nowhere near any tropes (that I can think of) so I have nothing to base him off of.

Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about?

To put it simply, a Dwarf Noble, at one point I attempted him, but since I have become a bit disillusioned with my abilities to pull it off.

What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character?

Personality by a long shot, I want my characters to be memorable (in a good way) and above all, unique in their own way.

Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them?

A comic or short story about Gochnipunchni might be nice...

Who's the oldest character of yours that you still use? Do you have other characters that are older that you don't use anymore?
  • Dahae is currently my oldest ACTIVE character. Rei is my oldest character, but I don't play her anymore.
Has creating a character ever made you realize something about yourself?
  • Not really, no. I just like to role-play as a hobby, or as some sort of escape thing from stress.
Do you prefer to make human, Shendar, Orc, or _____ characters? Why?
  • I like something that's close to human, or humanoid. It feels easier to relate.
When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the persona concept first?
  • Visual, then persona. I like to create the appearance first, then "fill" the visual shell with personality.
Do you have characters that you know you'll never use, but can't bear to get rid of/recycle?
  • I actually forget about the characters I never use. I probably wouldn't mind getting rid of them, or recycling.
Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had?
  • I think Dahae embodies my sociableness, compassion for animals, optimism, and quirkiness. IRL, I'm extroverted and extremely open towards other people. IRL, I always try to keep my friends intact and offer them help if they need anything, (homework help, ranting, etc).
Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits?
  • Fenic embodies the "aggressive/assertive" tone I have IRL. Friends from school have told me that I come off too strongly when meeting new people, and that I mix up being assertive with being aggressive. He also has other traits such as being hard-headed/stubborn.
If you have characters that embody certain traits of yours—good or bad—has writing them changed how you view those traits? Has it affected you in any way?
  • No.
Do you create playlists for your characters? Do you ever create Pinterest mood boards? If so, link them!
  • I haven't created a playlist, but I'll consider making one in the future.
When writing for specific characters, is there anything you have to do to get into the right mindset?
  • I try to draw in inspiration from anywhere to get in the mood. It could be from music, reading a book, or even taking public transportation.
Which character is your guilty pleasure? Meaning, which character of another person would you love to role play with/have character interactions with because you absolute love their visual design or personality, but don't because of reasons, and why don't you interact with them?
  • I like Sozzer's shendar, Ryndis Baudh, because I think their visual design is menacing and appealing. I don't get to RP with that character because she's shelved.
Which character is your hating pleasure? Meaning a character that you just love to hate IC because of something they do, say or the way they act, and why? And how does that reflect back on you OOC?
  • I can't think of any.
If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
  • @Kelpsy - Naushe Kearney is visually unique to me. I could probably look at any bad art drawing of him, and say "Oh, that's Naushe!".
If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think has the most unique and intricate personality design and execution, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!
  • @ElderShrub - G'ulli, is neat to RP with. It's a lot different than the stereotypical "cutesy" Lampar. His personality reminds me a lot about Gollum from LOTR. G'ulli comes off as skittish, filthy, and paranoid. I love it.
Is there a character of yours who's a real struggle to write/draw/play? Why do you think that is?
  • Wulfgar is hard to draw and play. I can't draw bull/goat heads. The Url personality of being pensive and reserved is hard for me to play out, because I'm a social person. I don't know what it's like to be reserved in public.
Is there anything you really wish you could do, character-design-wise, that you feel is outside your current skill set? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about?
  • I think having a more "refined/sophisticated" menacing character design would be cool. When I draw, it always ends out coming off brutish.
What's more important to you: visual design, unique personality, a trendy character aesthetic, etc? If you're not sure, then what's the first thing you usually nail down in a character?
  • Visual.
Do you ever plan to do anything (comic, animation, etc) outside of role play with your characters? Or are you just happy to have them?
  • I've already drawn some comics, and want to test out animation in the future.

If you were asked to tag a character belonging to someone else that you think is the best aesthetically designed character with a unique visual appearance, who would it be? Try to widen your scope beyond just your friends!

@Kelpsy - Naushe Kearney is visually unique to me. I could probably look at any bad art drawing of him, and say "Oh, that's Naushe!".
