• Inventory Split Incoming

MassiveCraft will be implementing an inventory split across game modes to improve fairness, balance, and player experience. Each game mode (Roleplay and Survival) will have its own dedicated inventory going forward. To help players prepare, we’ve opened a special storage system to safeguard important items during the transition. For full details, read the announcement here: Game Mode Inventory Split blog post.

Your current inventories, backpacks, and ender chest are in the shared Medieval inventory. When the new Roleplay inventory is created and assigned to the roleplay world(s) you will lose access to your currently stored items.

    Important Dates

    • April 1: Trunk storage opens.
    • May 25: Final day to submit items for storage.
    • June 1: Inventories are officially split.

Please make sure to submit any items you wish to preserve in the trunk storage or one of the roleplay worlds before the deadline. After the split, inventories will no longer carry over between game modes.

Opinion On Hytale

9.4/10
The game takes the base of Minecraft and improves on the idea. Not only are the base elements graphically (possibly gameplay wise) more appealing but also the elements Minecraft lacks such as full modding api. Created from people who have played Minecraft for years, they are perfect to fix any and all issues Minecraft has gameplay wise.

Personally, the adventure aspect and so many unique dungeons etc makes this game much better than its predecessor. Is it Minecraft 2? Maybe. I do think the survival aspect of Minecraft is better however Hytale for me is not about survival. It's about adventure. Those are two different things. I look forward to this game so much!

What Minecraft would look like if they implemented everything the community has been asking for... OR should strive to be. I like the overall graphics and the models from it and would 1000000000% love to have that in Minecraft. IF the game comes out like the trailer I'll definitely give it a try!

I personally have optimistic hope for Hytale. It looks like a lot of fun, and Hypixel himself is one of the oldest faces on the scene. He basically invented Adventure Maps as we imagine them today, with Herobrine's Mansion and Herobrine's Revenge, and his minigames, from even before server minigames were big (Walls was a redstone-run map originally) defined another Era of the game. If any group is going to make Minecraft 2 and do it right, its one spawned from his work.

On top of that, the game has 3 years of work done already, and is funded by Epic Games, the company behind League of Legends. It has proper backing its not just some shit app store tier clone.

When it comes out, I am buying it (assuming it costs money) and I'm going to be on that bandwagon. Worst case scenario, as long as I jump on soon enough, I'll probably get 6-12 months of active community and development, even if it crashes after that. And if it doesn't crash, well, that's just a great bonus.

Even Notch said something to the effect of "it looks like it has soul" when asked on Twitter, dismissing the idea of it being a cheap clone.

Super excited but cautious at the same time. If hytale provides everything promised as seen on twitter and with the trailer, it will be rather popular in the beginning for sure.

The problem with predicting this game is it's future. A game like this hasn't competitively released on such a scale of quality before, thus we really have nothing to compare it to.

It would be nice to watch it from the side lines, allow the community to buy the game and try it out on their own, and provide review accordingly. Perhaps hytale could be the future of massive months to a year down the road - considering minecraft java is slowly dying and becoming neglected. It's also important to understand the promised improved optimization and rpg friendly functions. It comes down to what the community wants on a majority scale however.

I've been submitting Q&A's about the game via twitter to Simon for some time now. Based on answers from other questions as well as my own, trees do in fact fall meaning hytale will have physics different than minecraft, and skin customization similar to mc3D may be implemented into the game similar to their mod and scripting programs.

Well there's already this project called Hyforge which they plan to be a unique version of factions.

They also have a Minecraft server for it so I hope that didn't count as advertising pls no ban.
considering they have like a scam website and the code language hasnt even been announced its safe to say they wont make it far lol

Yeah, I haven't even looked into it much so idek. But if by "scam website" you mean the one they've been sponsored by, then uh... That discussion got way out of hand already.

I think it looks cool, but I really don't think massive should move to it ngl
For the most part I think this is really true. Considering all of the skins, plugins, and buildings that have been made in terms of progress it would take a long time to recreate. Although technically given enough time and resources it could be done.

I imagine so. The Scripting and Modding tools are built in, and it will probably be set up like Gmod so missing mods get installed when you join a server with them. That's my guess at least.
Then fuck moving Factions there LETS MOVE DARKRP TO HYTALE!
Then I can mine for diamonds AND listen to small salty children calling for an admin!
In all seriousness I'll probably buy it just because I jump on every new game bandwagon. Let's just hope it's not the next Fallout 76.

Either..
It's going to be the next big thing and what a vast majority of the minecraft general population is going to make a huge migration to, because of the sheer lack of care given to the game's modding community and non-vanilla players by Jeb_, as well as server owners and creators tired of microsoft's attempts to kill modding. It could be the next Roblox and be the main competitor against 'blox (Which has actually gotten bigger as more and more modders and players who enjoyed community made content moved away from Micro-craft. You can actually make a shitload of money.)

If this happens, massivecraft will probably **have** to move to the new game, as well as a lot of servers. Honestly I do hope this occurs, and we just say screw this game, the devs don't actually care about the community that want to make content, they can go ahead and sell the "haha u cannot mod anymore xd" game to whoever wants it for some reason, considering the moddable java edition is becoming smaller and smaller by the day.

Or..
It'll be moderately successful, suck up a lot of the general population that enjoys mods, as well as a large part of Hypixel's base servers and quite a few content creators who just don't want to dev Minecraft anymore (Looking at you, Heroes plugin. It's time to move on.)
It won't really compete with the current "I have full control over every aspect of the engine and can even make money with the crap I make" giant that is Roblox, but I assume it'll still be a blip on the map for it. That game is still huge even years down the line.

If this happens, I'd still like to see a move from minecraft to hytale, mainly because at least they actually help content creators and server devs work on their stuff, rather than create huge updates specifically to break most modding, and try and divide up the modding community more and more across multiple versions so there's a perceived lack of players who want to play modded and creators and players simply give up and move to realms. And I imagine 90% of the java edition either way will move to Hytale if it turns out.. and thus, there goes our entire potential playerbase.

Or..
It'll be a huge flop, hypixel will shrug his shoulders, and continue to suck up the general player population, dev pool, and advertising squares on every serverlist for minecraft. (The amount of money they spend is literally choking Java edition tbh.) Riot will get meme'd on even harder by their playerbase, which, really, they did to themselves.

If this happens, then we just continue to try and keep the server going like nothing happened.

the code language hasnt even been announced

Judging by some previews, it's probably Javascript, and there might be some other extensions to it later on.

I'd guess it's probably a variant of C tbh.

Well.. You can't really compare Hytale to Roblox for a few reasons, but we don't have to discuss that now as it might derail the thread a little.

Considering how experienced the Hytale staff seem to be when it comes to what gamers want in a game, and that it's sponsored by Riot Games, which is a company I've heard doesn't shove microtransactions in your face, I think it's going to take off. Especially with the amount it has blown up over the past month.

They originally expected 250k views on the trailer in the first week, and got 32 million views by the end of the month. That's pretty impressive for people who have only developed a Minecraft server.

But my assumption that they know what people want in games seems to be supported a lot by the content they have promised in their game. Replayability, customization, community, modding, adventure, uniqueness, and other aspects all blew me away when I first saw the trailer.

As for Massive, it should probably stay on Minecraft for awhile considering it has it's roots here, but if the community eventually experiences a mass drain to the point where the server dies off, it should move or give up. Although I doubt that will happen considering how long dedicated players stay, and that it's likely players that move to Hytale from Minecraft will still play both games at least some.

I feel the need to bring something up.
Most of the time, the addon downloads don't actually work. At least the ones on WorkshopDL do not.
USUALLY, you have to join a server, grab the workshop collection out of the MOTD of the server, and download all the addons.
There is a way to fix this but I'm apparently the only server owner who isn't completely lazy and tasked my developer on applying a fix. And said fix is very easy to code.
FastDL addons, the ones that download after the server finishes downloading the workshop addons to your computer, usually work as long as the server owner configured FastDL correctly. And half of the time they don't, making me question why these goddamn servers even have players.

Assuming Hytale works, I might try and grab a server for it. And pay a scripter to do stuff.

Copyright infringement lawsuit

Hytale cannot be sued by mojang or microsoft studios due to the agreement on Notches contract in selling off the game and stepping down as a developer. In the agreement, he allowed the ability and rights for other games to take minecraft and improve on it for their own designs. This of course with the knowledge that they'd make the game with a separate engine - in other words, not actually just copy and pasting minecraft, but building a separate game from scratch.

Additionally, Hytale studios is backed by riot games, they invested one million into the game - likely as a venture capitalist. Invest for the stake in a company in exchange for cash to start a business.

Wait if Riots involved, does that mean Hytale is low key gonna be made into a Battle Royale game like what happened with Fortnite???

I'd say that's highly unlikely, and if it ends up being js, it probably isn't going to get too far.
Sorry, it's probably written in C/C++ or some other C variant (C#, anyone?), and the scripting available to players will most likely be JS. I understand js is pretty meh tier but frankly it's better than the straight-up absolutely nothing minecraft has gotten from $oft.

Yea but it's like not. Unless there ends up being a third party api like spigot, there's not going to be much done with it. An official scripting api is cool and all, but at the end of the day, it's significantly more limited than c++, c#, java, etc. Especially if the language is JS, which is one of the most hated languages in existence lol. I mean stuff like factions could probably be done, but it's just really suck for devs and be an all around worse experience than in Minecraft where we have 3rd party api's that work great.

All that being said, the "evidence" for it being Js is far as I can tell comes from a single screenshot that looks like a mashup of several languages and so was probably made intentionally not to reveal the language being used.
