• Inventory Split Incoming

MassiveCraft will be implementing an inventory split across game modes to improve fairness, balance, and player experience. Each game mode (Roleplay and Survival) will have its own dedicated inventory going forward. To help players prepare, we’ve opened a special storage system to safeguard important items during the transition. For full details, read the announcement here: Game Mode Inventory Split blog post.

Your current inventories, backpacks, and ender chest are in the shared Medieval inventory. When the new Roleplay inventory is created and assigned to the roleplay world(s) you will lose access to your currently stored items.

    Important Dates

    • April 1: Trunk storage opens.
    • May 25: Final day to submit items for storage.
    • June 1: Inventories are officially split.

Please make sure to submit any items you wish to preserve in the trunk storage or one of the roleplay worlds before the deadline. After the split, inventories will no longer carry over between game modes.

Hey, today I was thinking about something, I was thinking how much my roleplay has changed since I started massive. It can be quite astounding when you look at it, just from writing styles to description added. I have been looking through the forums in an attempt to find some of my old forum roleplays. While I could not find my first one, still found one that was made in January.

So here is my oldest role play post.

Eloraid enters the tavern, he wipes snow of his leather jacket and out oh his blonde hair. His bright green eyes scan the tavern, like a bird of prey. He walks further into the tavern, each step he makes is silent, he seems to move like a shadow, smoothly but I a way to blend with the environment. He turns to the table were the group is gathering, his eyes narrow on the black knife. He presses his lips together as he places his hand in the lump in his jacket. He moves toward a the tables, his eyes darting around the tavern. What have I gotten into? He thought has he grew closer to the table, she looks like a child, this must be a waste of my time he summed up. But never the less he walked up to the table. "Hej"(not a typo) he said bluntly, his voice thick with his northern accent. He sat down with out bothering to ask, his eyes darting between the others at the table. He slowly slips his right hand under the table, slowly if roping the hilt of his hunting knife. He was unsure of he could trust any of these people, in fact he was certain that that the others at the table were useless thrill seekers.

While this will not be as good contrast as I wanted you will see a very different form of writing and hopefully general skill. This is my most recent roleplay post.

Derik Vaaj
Silence, the music of the forest

A forest of green, streaked with brown and rays of gold. Like an ocean the canopy slowly moved in the breeze, shifting the colours as the sun shone through the leaves. Below the roof of leaves the world was darker, with only rays of gold to light up the dark underwood. The air was tinged with green, and thick with the smell of rotting leaves. Not a sound could be heard, the wind did not reach the floor of the forest, nor was their any birds singing in the branches. The forest was still, the forest was silent, the forest was foreboding.

Then a streak, a blur of green in the forest floor. Moving more like water than animal, a trailing coat flying behind it as it moved through the fallen trees and past the lower bushes. The animal was moving rapidly through the forest, never breaking stride as it leaped and slide; never making a sound. The animal's intent was that of survival, simple and instinctual; to gather food. It was a predator, it was a hunter, it was Derik.

Derik, the protagonist? No, this was not his tale, he was apart of it but what part of it? What did he need to do, what was he going to do? These thoughts were not of the world inhabited by the Yōkai and these were thoughts of something else, something watching from above, observing the world, crafting it, controlling it. These thoughts were that of which that will guide Derik, will lead him to the end of the story. But these thoughts were un-see able, un-hear able; but they were the tools that forged his destiny, that created him. These thoughts were those that lead him to be hunting, led him to take the terrible wound and will lead him to more.

Another sound, a sound in the silent forest. A sound the hunter knew well, it was no small animal or monster. It was a large and graceful beast, most would call it a stag. But stag was a word that had no meaning to the hunter, words were not his to use. He could not use them, only think them, he was doing this now, thinking of the animal, thinking of its reward. The running tree is here. Close, near, soon. For that is what it was to him, with branches on top of its head it was a tree, yet it ran. It ran with grace to match the hunters, but not the speed. The hunter was the apex hunter, it wanted food and it would get food. It would use its weapons that sang death to bring the animal to the next world.

Closer now, the running tree was near now. It's sent was on the air, its calls drifting like music in the still forest. It did not think it was in danger, it couldn't know. It cold not see the hunter, could not smell and could not hear the hunter, but the hunter could smell and hear it. The hunter could see it grazing alone on a patch of grass. The hunter could see its prize. A weapon was drawn, made from wood and string, crafted to curve and made to be long. Another piece was added, shorter, sharper and with feathers on the end. Together they were drawn back, creaking sounds were heard as the large weapon bent. Then the song of death roared silently in the still forest. The short sharp weapon flew from the large one, creating a deep thum of a sound as the string shot the projectile. A low shriek whizzing sound was madded silently as the projectile cut through the air, then through the animal. The running tree was dead and the hunter had won.

As you can tell their is a fair difference in the two posts, the most recent one as my own style ion it where I post the name of the character and a small phrase below it. But beyond that how they are written are very different, one being much more literal while the other has fun with words.

But while I wrote this thread I realized other people could have developed in other ways, like their building styles. So everyone, if your a PVPer, builder or roleplayer, post a comparison on how your skills have changed.

I used to not know roleplay was a thing and that everyone was just talking to each other. Now I have four different characters and I'm in two different families with actual players.

i hope i can improve my writing and descriptive skills as you did, that is amazing.

...Hm. How have I changed?

Rp: Went from not caring, to barely caring, to caring quite a bit, then dropping back down to not giving a rats ass for it once more.

Pvp: Went from great at it and caring for pvp, to devolving into rp and losing what skills I had, to gaining an outright disgust for the community hosted by PVP, to trying to give a damn for it once more but failing.

Building: Still can't build. xD

...About sums it up.

Let's see. In one year, this is how far I've come.

RP:
One year ago: Refia walks into the tavern, slightly annoyed.
Today: Kyra walks into the tavern, slightly annoyed.

PVP:
One year ago: -gets lucky and kills someone-
Today: -gets lucky and kills someone with people watching-

Building:
One year ago: Hmm. This building is very flat and very square with a very boxy roof.
Today: Thomas, "8."

DISCLAIMER:

Not all dates are exactly a year away, but something I've done within said year.

My English and roleplaying skills improved a lot since I first started roleplaying. I once compared my first character application to my newest one, and it looked like they had been written by two whole different persons, one being an 8 years old probably. I would post examples here, but my first character application was deleted due to being so extreme old and inactive, and I don't have a back-up of it. (I discovered google docs later only)

Back in my day if you were to rp you'd be shunned from the community, and if you wouldn't come out during a raid your faction would have a dirt box built around it.. Ahh indeed how far we have come...

That was actually a real medieval tactic, where they built giant earthen igloos around towns they didn't like. Definitely real, you should just trust me...

As far as PvP goes...

I started from the bottom now I'm here

Joking love you Joshy <3

My roleplay skills have improved considerably.

But to counter this I didn't know what discombobulate meant until half an hour ago.

Least I can on massive m8

A year ago, I really had no clue when it came to lore compliancy-- I just role played as a female fisherman by the name of Eliza Nightly with anyone that wandered by the farmhouse in Ithania. Now? I've learned so much since then and I've made so many friends. I'd like to think that my role play skills have improved in a year's time x3

Pvp wise? Just the same. I'm still God-awful. ou o

Roleplay wise, I've gone from a non lore compliant god rping metagaming demonically possessed immortal vampire who barely knew what the lore was and could read people's minds or something?? to a fairly good roleplayer, from what I can tell... At least my characters are lore compliant. I hope ;^;
Also, I've gotten better at writing. Like, a lot better. Even though it doesn't show because my replies in anything non-roleplay are fairly terrible and lack any form of structure :3
Pvp wise, if anything I've probably gotten worse. ;^;

My talking rp is still as awful as it was When I started,
My fighting rp has gotten better, as for pvp and building im still awful xD
