I realize mostly the lack of information what the Dragon Song really is attributed to players having to fill the blanks, which is why this thread was specifically written. A lot of the Dragon controlled are going a bit overboard with Character breaking actions that go beyond the scope of logic, so this thread aims to set out what the Dragon Song really is, and how to accurately apply it to your character.
How do I get Dragon Controlled?
How do I get Dragon Controlled?
- You can choose to actively get controlled by walking up to the Dragon worshipers in the Bastion Keep. If you "join" them there, you can imply that the Dragon Rikkira converted your character when she drops by every now and then. I unfortunately don't have the time to drop by the castle every day, so this mostly has to be implied in between roleplay sessions.
- You can also get passively controlled by a random appearance by Rikkira. These random appearances give specific goals and missions to the people being controlled, often missions and objectives that are never complete-able, but offer a lot of roleplay narrative.
- The Arken Generals also have the ability to turn your character into a Dragon Cultist. You can either approach them and have them do so, or this can occur during an in-game event.
- Yes and no. Dragon Control is a state of mind slavery, but like anyone would expect from a stereotypical mind infestation, it's far more subtle.
- When mind controlled, the mind's ability to conceive of the dragons (this is an important aspect, they serve Dragons as a whole, not just Rikkira, though have preference to her) as wrong or at fault, is overruled by default.
- Furthermore, when mind controlled, the mind's ability to reject orders or commands from the Dragons, not just Rikkira, though preference to her, is overruled by default.
- This means that a Dragon controlled cannot act against the interest of Dragons, or reject their orders, but it doesn't inherently change their personality. A person who was cynical and atheist before being mind controlled, doesn't suddenly worship Rikkira as a goddess. They simply have to support her for some inexplicable reason that seems as natural to them as the sky is blue.
- Dragon controlled can recognize a Dragon Soul in an individual, whether it be Dragon Blood or an Aspect of the Dragon, or even a Dragon Knight.
- Dragon Control cannot be lifted in any way beyond the death of the Dragon that inflicted, or a willing absolution of control by the Dragon that inflicted it.
- Isldar are immune to the Dragon control of the Feathered Dragons. (because they are already controlled by the Frostwing Dragon, and Dragons cannot override each other, but we don't know that yet IC save for a select few individuals).
- Dragon Knights are mortal individuals who have had a Dragon Soul bound to their physical form. See of it as a body merge, much like the Shendar ability, though in this case, the Dragon person merges with the physical being of the target. The target's skin toughens and forms scales, much like a dragon's. Their eyes turn dragon-like, and any weapons and armor/clothing they wear magically morphs into what we call "personality specific aesthetics", meaning the looks and wield-ability of these items becomes very subject to the personality of the Dragon Soul that merges with the target. For example, if a Dragon-Blood or Aspect is a very protective and loyal individual, the armor might be very heavy and well protecting, but if the person is very energetic and wild and abrasive, the armor might be very light and feature a lot of spikes.
- Dragon Knights aren't unique. The merge will most likely rotate for Rikkira, and even beyond that point, Dragonbloods and Aspects will still persist.
- Dragon Knight status lasts for as long as the person is merged with a Dragon Soul. As soon as the Dragon Soul ends the merge, they and their armor and weapons and clothing all return to normal.
- Pretend relations before control somehow don't exist anymore. Characters who are Dragon controlled will struggle with their loved ones not agreeing to what they consider a natural state of being.
- Become mindlessly loyal to everything Dragon related. The only commands that have to be followed, are the Dragon's commands. This control does not override people's dislikes of each other, and two Dragon controlled can still try and kill each other if they didn't like each other before conversion.
- Become a raving screaming cultist. The most important part about Dragon control, is that the person doesn't change in any way, except that their mind has made up without question that Dragons are always right and have to be followed and protected.
- Use Dragon control as a means to control IC proceedings. Don't misuse Dragon control or every IC proclamation by the government or OOC system in effect to change how IC proceedings occur. For example, don't influence IC actions by using world emotes to remind other players that they cannot harm one of their own.
- To bring Dragons back into the world. Rikkira is already working to that end, but is building a support base of people in the city of Regalia so the Humans won't immediately start a Dragon hunt and exterminate the fledgling creatures. Curiously enough, this does mean that the Dragons aren't inherently denying other forms of religion, but passively acknowledging their existence as spiritual needs of the mortal beings. The only thing the Dragons really care about, is that their race is acknowledged as the first of all and creatures that descend divinity and require deference of the highest degree. It's very similar to the 12th Creed where the Emperor permits other religions to exist within reason, but demands utter and complete loyalty of the heretics.
