Family History
The Bottinatrici family is an older Azzizzari family with its name and roots originating in the Southernmost Chiarian Island of Sangria. They can trace their roots to Tulumeu Bottinatrici - before that, their Daen roots are very hazy and uncertain. Tulumeu was estimated to be born sometime in the early 190's and had a twin sister named Tuccia, yet her whereabouts became unknown after sometime following the death of their parents who are never named in records and oral tradition. In local records, one can find that Dressolini briganti took advantage of some of the early Azzizzari-settlers-to-be migrating South from 198AC-203AC which could suggest their possible demise.
After escaping attempted enslavement and unable to save his sister, Tulumeu did not wander far from the briganti and stayed within a small commune built within an old, abandoned baron's castle named Scolgeru by its inhabitants. With the outskirts and surrounding forests teaming with edible delights and plentiful game, he took to foraging and trapping, yet was most known for being the only one to find truffles, leaving the local restrauntier and their pigs stumped. Instead of using pigs which ended up eating the fungi, Tulumeu used a wild dog from the region he too orphaned to sniff out anything he couldn't find. With nothing but bountiful and fresh goods, he earned the name "Il Bottinatrice" or the forager, hence the family's surname.
Once estimated to be in his mid-twenties and the Azzizzari became popular amongst the growing commune, he established a guild known as "Il Bottinatrici'' - or "The Foragers'' which would bring in larger quantities of goods from the surrounding area and beyond and connecting to market places and grocers across other towns to rake in a great profit while sniffing out competition quickly and without a fuss. While the guild expanded its territory, its guildmaster, Tulumeu never forgot or forgave those who took his parents, and plotted revenge, using his territory to take out those venturing into town for whorring, drinking, and gambling before finishing off the rest in their encampment. Tulumeu would find them a generous horde and contracts of sold prisoners - including his sister. He would then follow her tracks to a plantation in Costa Daen with new management and new slaves but with information of a revolt before a relative replaces their deposed, deceased one. Tulumeu would soon find her on a farm in Montania, learning of her escape by stabbing the former plantation owner to death then fleeing, causing the bravery of the slaves to overthrow their masters and fleeing themselves. Tulumeu would marry Itria and have one son also named Tulumeu.
The second Tulumeu followed in his fathers footsteps. As the growing Bottinatrici Guild and family became prominent in Scolgeru, which had turned into a proper settlement by 229 AC. Tulumeu II would expand, incorporating the use of the wild dogs and repurposing and rebreeding for foraging the native plants and fungi the newfound culture so desired. After lobbying in 237 AC, the guild would take on the responsibility and power of maintaining the towns surrounding wildlife, distributing foraging and hunting licenses and permissions to the locals and travelers as well and swiftly punishing those who attempted to bypass them. In the year 250AC, his life would inevitably be cut short by another opportunistic Azzizzari grandmaster, being shot by a crossbow through a cafe window while drinking liberato after a long day.
When his children came of age they sought revenge, fighting and competing with their rivals and fathers killer. The guild eventually muscled their territory and eventually took over its resources and some men, consolidating their power over their "foraging monopoly" within the region. Unfortunately, Tulumeu III would not survive the ordeal and passed like his father, yet with two legitimate heirs still of the Tulumeu line the Bottinatrici family stood a chance. Ottavianu would attend the Regalian Marshal School and his brother and other surviving triplet, Sabbinaniu would attend Navy Academy and business school whole their relatives of Tuccia's line helped manage things in their absence. Once returning, they'd take advantage of the unemployment in their region and recruit men and women in their home region for war. They would be known amongst some the former Dressolini nobles, being paid a decent amount of regals to travel to Montania and the Dressolini homeland to fight their feudal wars. During Ryker Lampero's annexation of the rest of Montania and the Azzizzari homeland, the family would abruptly move and scatter abroad, using their talents in their homeland to make reasonable coins only to regather in Regalia. With Gòsamu being seen as the most responsible of the 4th generation, he would take responsibility as head of the Bottinatrici Family and their business, rebranding the guild as a import company known as "L'Ulivo" or "The Olive Tree." The family hopes to establish themselves as a respectable Azzizzari family and wish to lead their community to prosperity within the Holy City.
