Character Information
Tetrac is a mostly reserved mariner/merchant. He wants nothing more than to spend the rest of his career at a port town fishing, trading and talking to the locals. Tetrac is slow to trust but generally optimistic with people, wanting to see the good in situations rather than the bad. When push comes to shove, he becomes a fierce and stalwart ally in critical situations, and has the potential for uncompromising loyalty.
Tetrac is a Geistbrood, the result of a complicated upbringing. He'll feel compulsions to feed, otherworldly urges to do certain things, scrawl certain words- he can't understand the meaning to most of them, but he's sure that he's a pawn in a grand scheme beyond his ability to ration, especially in spite of the occasionally specific, cryptic compulsions that he suffers. He's able to resist these urges almost all of the time, but his willpower is not absolute. Tetrac has many regrets in his life, most of them caused by this phenomenon.
Appearance Information
Tetrac is an average sized Fin'ullen, though poor posture and his tendency for vacant stares often makes him seem far more unassuming than his relatives. He's quite toned, a result of low body fat: he's not particularly bulky despite his definition. His hair is a briny mop of already graying hair- an uncommon symptom of aging for his race, but one that is owed to ancestry as opposed to sheer age. His complexion is otherwise youthful and fair.
Tetrac wears an unassuming and utilitarian set of clothing near every day; a sweater, trousers, sturdy boots and a pea coat for ocean wind. His roughly trimmed beard is often knotted from the conditioning of salt and whipping winds, and he tends to keep his salt-and-pepper hair in a tight ponytail. His sole extravagences are his earrings- a hoop on the right ear, cuffs on the left.
Deep bags underscore blue eyes, a consequence of his haunting and his profession. Long nights spent voyaging have become an expectation for Tetrac, and when he's given a chance at respite, his body is too skeptical of the opportunity to allow him a restful night's sleep.
Combat Style
Spellblade/Magic Archer (uses a baton/short club and a rusty, hand-me-down pistol)
Hobbies and Talents (Optional)
Skilled at several nautical trades/crafts (fishing, diving, cartography, organization,) to the metric of an employable professional, though far short of a master. Pursues a modest income through mercantilism, both by manning trade vessels and the physical sale of goods he's produced himself and/or those of people who commission him to take their business to the city on their behalf. Tetrac's magical affinity isn't a source of pride for him, but the manifested combat prowess these skills pose made him a welcome commodity in several unexpected conflicts: he's cultivated a bit of a reputation within certain seafaring communities as a result.
Other than that, Tetrac likes to prepare hardy meals (typically stew) with a stern drink nearby, and he most enjoys passing the time through routine organization/cleaning, reading, woodcarving, attending festivities and visiting taverns and inns (mostly for the atmosphere and conversation, not just the drinking.)

Life Story / Plot Hooks
When Tetrac was a newborn, his home province was secretly governed by an occult cabal. His parents sought political and economic power, and leveraged their newborn as a way to secure this. The leader of the cult underwent a meticulous and suicidal ritual, dividing his soul into fragments and threading them into the budding spirits of children. Tetrac was one of these children, and though his parents quickly rose to nobility, he was never again of interest to them, neglected for years.
Tetrac never met the other children who were involved in the ritual, though he can't recall the details around that time anyway. All that mattered to Tetrac was that he felt unwanted and unfulfilled in life, even in adolescence. Consequently, he traveled/hitch hiked along the coast, eventually settling in with a kind, generous family who took Tetrac in as one of their own. They taught him everything he needed to know about seafaring and trading. When his magical potential began to manifest- insidious fevers and headaches (shortly before intense and spectacular displays of color and destructive force-) he grew distant from even his adoptive family, occasionally interrupting his bouts of pained silence with emotional outbursts, both verbal and physical.
Tetrac was a young man when he again took to traveling, time and again finding himself quite far from home, years passing between each understanding of what "home" meant to him. He would encounter many people along his journey: most people would describe Tetrac as quiet and unassuming, yet friendly and hardworking. Others would describe him as secretive and mysterious, yet creepy and daunting. Others still would understand the true nature of Tetrac's magic and the ritual which begot it, and would keep a closer eye upon him than he could have imagined anybody would ever care to.
