Sacrificial Nether Portal?

So.... I found an entrance to a room with lava in it..




Upon further investigation, I found that the room had a Nether portal and what appeared to be a jail cell in it.









((And yes, I took the lapis blocks))

No.... but as I was looking around the area.... look at this screenshot.

Pigmen can spawn near portals, and also spawn in ruins areas in Daendroc, as well as the nether.

That isn't too far from where my faction stands according to the dynmap. I may have a look later at this later.

EDIT: Actually, I entered them wrong, that is quite far away.
