Rules related to Chat
  • Do not misuse chat channels for something else other than their purpose.

  • Do not cause drama in public chats. Divert your complaints or reports to the Forums.

  • Do not spam chat channels

  • Do not engage in political, religious, sensitive, or inappropriate topics in public channels.

  • Do not advertise competing servers either in public or private Chat Channels.

Intervention

A few things were introduced to stop spam:

  • 30 second cooldown for Premiums

  • 60 second cooldown for Non-Prems

  • "Cooldowns are now shared between a few channels. Speaking in general and then jumping to trade to avoid cooldown won't work."

How do you spam an unspammable chat?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chat focus and ignore features

"It can interrupt a trade" - Excuse

The already implemented cooldown should allow time in between for people to easily follow pm messages

What if loads of people are talking in G or advertising in T etc etc at a busy hour? Is there really much difference?

We also have systems such as this one when certain chats become too much:

Leave Chats

  • /ch leave (chat
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Premium

"Chat Cooldowns: Now, cooldowns are a mere 30 seconds for all chats!"

You pay for the privilege of half the cooldown.
Why advertise this feature if you are going to enforce a 5 minutes cooldown regardless.
There are no specifications about restrictions on it's usage.

Im confused as to what point your trying to make, there seem to be quotes and snippets from somewhere mixed with your own comments without much to distinguish between each, so Im just lost.

People are being punished for "spamming chat", specifically Trade chat, however we're confused how you can spam a chat that has a feature to stop spam.

Severe spamming recently had a comeback in several chat channels, and after receiving complaints we started to moderate accordingly. The chat cooldown for Recruitment chat was changed, but we cannot do the same with Trade chat as this would adversely affect auctions. Therefore, Trade chat is moderated by staff for quickly repeated or similar messages. You can argue that there wasn't an announcement for this change, but I deemed it would be rather ridiculous to tell players in an announcement to "not spam", especially when our staff members drop a friendly reminder before taking any further steps.

Furthermore you can also spam chat with just a single message, such as by using the same symbols to fill any spaces within your message for example. Moderation of such is also old news.

Okay, but there is still not a single rule that says anything about 5 minutes. You can't honestly punish people by saying its a rule when It really isnt.

5 Minutes is a guide to help you preventing the issue in future and I'm not sure why you try to argue that staff can't moderate spam after warning the individual several times. However, as this is turning into discussing a specific punishment, I like to invite you to continue this discussion in my dms on discord or in a forum conversation. (Sephite#0367 if you haven't added me yet.)
