• Inventory Split Incoming

MassiveCraft will be implementing an inventory split across game modes to improve fairness, balance, and player experience. Each game mode (Roleplay and Survival) will have its own dedicated inventory going forward. To help players prepare, we’ve opened a special storage system to safeguard important items during the transition. For full details, read the announcement here: Game Mode Inventory Split blog post.

Your current inventories, backpacks, and ender chest are in the shared Medieval inventory. When the new Roleplay inventory is created and assigned to the roleplay world(s) you will lose access to your currently stored items.

    Important Dates

    • April 1: Trunk storage opens.
    • May 25: Final day to submit items for storage.
    • June 1: Inventories are officially split.

Please make sure to submit any items you wish to preserve in the trunk storage or one of the roleplay worlds before the deadline. After the split, inventories will no longer carry over between game modes.

PvP. It is what most a lot of us came to do in massivecraft. In my ban I have noticed that PvP has died down, if I can get a explanation as to why, things will certainly be better. Why have so many of my fellow PvPers been banned, all from Raptum I noticed. Why is that? Do the admins not like then? Why has nobody from Magnanimus been banned when they do what Raptum does, I know that a Raptum member was previously banned for portal traps. Go to Magnanimus and tell me what you find, last time I was there I saw bunches of portal traps, should there creators be banned, that would only be fair. So many problems have accrued with the new traits as well, PvP is now whoever has the best traits, should races return? Races were better for Roleplay as well, then PvP would be like it used to, fun! Please post your opinion bellow! Thank you!

-facepalm- Not another one of these threads.

We don't make portal traps that kill you instantly or keep you from chatting or running commands. Those are the type that are illegal. Maybe you are differing between the two incorrectly. As for Magnanimus members never getting banned. It's simple. We don't do anything that would prompt a ban.

I thank you for voicing your part of the story, now please do not start flame over this though, just giving you a warning.

In my opinion the traits system is a good step towards making pvp better since it allows for more variation in pvp than if everyone did like before and ran around as axe-wielding undead. Now it is possible to set your own buffs after your playstyle, making it more enjoyable for everyone.

As for the portal traps... I think they should be illegal in every form.
Why? Here are some reasons:
Creating a portal trap is easier than opening a door...
Portal traps are very hard to spot, especially for those who have turned of particles for extra performance.
There is no way to escape a portal trap.
Materials for a portal trap are easy to acquire.
Basically, it's Gamebreaking.

This does. I can bet someone is probably gonna feel a bit loose with this. V

Now, my opinion on this to keep from derailing; portal traps. Hmm. I'm not too sure really what to say to this. I sort of want to keep it as it can prevent people from trying to glitch into places as well as protects factions efficiently, but is also game-breaking in itself... I personally would not care too much if the portal traps are removed, however I am starting to lean towards saying 'Yes pls'. I haven't experienced a portal-trap first-hand, but they sound a pain in the arse to land in.

Not really sure about portal traps, but I do think traits need to be altered or just removed completely. PvP should NOT be fair for everyone from the start, A new player should not be able to get some good gear, go out, and kill another player who has way higher mcmmo than him/her. Simply because of a couple of traits, that is possible now. It is only fair that the players who grind for hours on end should have a huge advantage over those who don't, and while this is still somewhat true, those advantages go totally out the window when you face off against someone who can counter your traits. Just my two cents, if I'm wrong about anything please correct me

I see your point, but I can not fully agree with you. Traits give PvP more room for tactics. It's no longer only about who has the highest stats (that does still do quite a lot though) but now you also need to think and adapt to the situation, planning ahead.
It is now possible to create custom classes for your members depending on what they want to do, may it be standing in the middle of the fight drawing aggro as a tank or jumping between rooftops with a bow.
Unless it's possible to see another players traits, you can't counter them all without him telling you what he is using, which would be kinda dumb.

To quote what you said "It is only fair that the players who grind for hours on end should have a huge advantage over those who don't". To this I say:
It wouldn't be fair if someone who is smart and good at using tactics lost a battle because some 10 year old can click fast and has spent 2 months in a darkroom training axes, now would it?

I totally agree with you, a person who can out think the other in pvp should easily beat the guy who just grinds all day. What I'm saying is, I don't think traits make a person fight more tactically, I think it comes down to hoping you're traits can beat his traits and if they can't you better change them, we don't need them to be more effective and specialized on the battlefield. If anything I've seen less use of tactics and different playstyles since traits have been implemented

I think this is mainly because most pvpers are running similar (if not the same) trait builds, just like pvpers all chose to play as undead before the traits were implemented.

I didn't day it caused flame I was just telling him not to later on, knowing me and him are not on good terms, at all.

I agree and do not agree, stats should not be everything but they should remove traits, if traits are gone and races are returned it brings in more tactic because then you have to choose, do I want to be a race that takes less damage or does more damage.

OK my 2 cents. Portal traps.... I hate them in enemy territory and I hate them in my own territory. IMO they're pretty much useless. People can just get out of them by warping to world spawn and when my faction leader forgets to turn ours off it makes getting around the city a complete nightmare.

Now my opinion on traits. I think they're pretty much perfect and should stay. I do think Fireball should be removed though it can kill you in 2 hits even with fire resistance and all the health boosting traits and can kill you through walls. It's just way too OP.

Finally my opinion on PvP not being as popular. This is due to a number of things I think but the biggest is the new rules where you lose your inventory no matter what. People just don't like losing expensive weapons every time they die to the point where I've noticed people have stopped putting Unbreaking 3 on their weapons because it's cheaper.

Having said all that I love Massivecraft and don't really feel like much needs to be changed. The rule enforcement could be a bit more lenient but that's about it.

The main downside to traits is HarmStrike, it does way to much damage, then take a look at all the other traits as well. Whoever has the best traits wins, I think races were better, also it brought in more Roleplay as well.

I find it annoying that people like you keep bringing up this.
The admins are not biased. Not at all. From what I've seen, they handle situations very carefully, and they don't take sides or the like. Also, what would they gain from banning them for "not liking them"?
Nothing.
You PVP'ers get banned simply because you break the rules.
No 'if's 'and's or 'but's.

I have reported people glitching and everything, hack accusing all that. None of them ever got punished but I got banned for being accused of knowing someone's alt. how is that fair?

Because maybe they weren't doing all that. Just because you think they are, doesn't mean they are actually hacking and the like.

I don't want to come off as rude, so call me out if I am, but just how often do you pvp? Do you know anyone from the major pvp factions at all? How often are you in a situation like he is describing? I don't really know you personally but I don't take you for a pvper. Saying that most staff are fair when it comes to something you don't know that much about doesn't do much for anyone. Again not trying to be rude, just giving my opinion.
I do PVP every now and then, more then you think. I know some people in PVP factions, and I hear them talking about it all the time.
But let me ask you this. What gives people the right to accuse staff of such things? Because I'm sure they do more work then any of us, banning all the hackers and such, keeping everything in line, ect.
Sure, a mistake or two might be made, but what everyone is whining about sounds ridiculous.

As a side note, you don't have to PVP to know PVP.
I simply watch now, I prefer not to get involved in the fighting and killing.
(Edit: I spelt a word wrong, I has to fix it.)

I do enjoy traits simply for the fact that it can make everyone more involved in PvP. You can now have people who are not necessarily PvP competant on your walls with an archer build, or fire balls raining damage and possibly debuffs on raiders. It also prevents people from blitz craiging through factions, because there might be a person with specific traits to counter yours. It makes PvP more tactical in the grand scheme of things. Mcmmo is still a large part of PvP, however. Training your skills can be the difference between a killshot or breaking a piece of enemy armor. Traits simply enhances and adds onto the opportunity of PvP, rather than it be centered around people who have no lifed their axes ( guilty as charged). Now, portal traps, I hate em. Whenever I go on a raid and there are portal traps, it makes me uneasy to run around the faction. That fact if I step over the right piece of stone, I am instantly done for. But, on the other hand, it does prevent people from, including me, from bum rushing through a faction. I dislike them, but they still have their pros.

Just yesterday I was accused of cheating And hacking somewhere when I enderpearled, he was a accusing me, saying "I wish you get banned like the rest of your faction" and staff didn't help. Not trying to start flame but it's the truth

Saying that most staff are fair when it comes to something you don't know that much about doesn't do much for anyone.

It does for us actually, it means there are people who don't needlessly question everything we do and are inherently happy with the way we run things. The equation is really quite simple, if a staff member abuses something, we remove them. We have done so with staff members in the past, but this is not often as obvious to players because we refrain from trash talking them out of respect for the work they /have/ done for Massive. There are quite a bunch of them however. If a claim is made with regards to staff abuse, they can be processed into the complaint section. Until this far in the past year I've only seen unsubstantiated claims. What little gets trickled into the general sections or into midwives' coffee clubs, is just incorrect information. You can see this simply by Enderdonut's thread.

Even though these things get disproven time and time again, some people still proclaim to heaven and beyond that the staff abuse without any valid evidence, almost like they /want/ to believe it's true to justify whatever other beliefs they have.

For now though, Since about 2012-11 the track record has been roughly clean, bar for a few "fuck-ups" with regards to accidental misuse of commands.

I've never seen a portal trap, much less been caught in one. I have no issue with them. However, they do seem like they would break immersion. Eh. Also, why does just about everyone seem to hare Maganimus? I've never had an issue with them. They leave me alone, and I don't complain.

I NEVER PVp on this server because I will lose my stuff. I don't have infinite cash. I think the axes sword and archery should only affect mobs. New players can't compete and then they rage quit. The traits, I like them but they are really op. Healthboost2 speed2 obsorption2. Your basically a 18 heart ninja.

I have always provided an open challenge to anyone who thinks the staff abuse, and am always able to prove whatever misconceptions they have wrong. There is a valid reason why this "Staff abuse" talk cannot bear the light of day and instead retreats into private Teamspeak/skype/private messaging. Whatever they are saying is simply untrue.

If it was true they could simply state it out and get people removed. If one really thinks about it for a while, there is no other conclusion to make about why they all keep this supposed "evidence" of staff abuse hidden.

What did Junkers1996 do, what he thought was right, reported a admin and they banned him!

...We all lose stuff when we die and none of us have infinite cash either.
...That would make very little sense in any manner, and, well, you'd have the entire PVP base rage quitting if that happened.
...This is why they spend time not immediately throwing themselves at a prot 4 and instead train and get respectable gear/resources.
...That trait build snippet already makes me want to tear my eyes out. Sure, you'd be tanky, but that'd require quite a few negatives, and lack of traits you would want/need in certain pinches.

PvP has died because PvPers are good for nothing except driving each other off the server.

You're certain that is not extreme in the slightest?

So you want pvp completely disabled? Good luck with that, because that's never going to happen.

Alright, for my opinion on this.. Regarding staff.. The staff usually try to be fair, but they're still human (Despite what many may think) They make mistakes, sometimes they seem a little unfair, but that doesn't mean they don't try. Also, staff generally try to help, and try their best, but they aren't perfect.

Also, as Monmarty stated; claiming something, and trying to accuse someone of something, but having no evidence, or very little, to back up your claim, is kind of stupid, and pointless. In a lot of things (Real life, and online) people can't simply just go on word alone, proof, and evidence is usually required. It also seems.. People do something incredibly stupid, and get staff on their tail, and it ends badly for them, and staff ban them, and for that they get mad, think its unfair, and claim staff abuse, or whatever. Trust me, I have been banned for being a complete idiot, at first you think it is unfair, but if you smarten up, you realize staff banned you because you were acting in an unfavorable manner (stupid pretty much), and generally, that isn't something that is wanted.

Also, has nobody that claims staff are horrible, and terrible creatures of evil, think that without them, you wouldn't have this server, or it wouldn't be as nice; if the staff truly were so terrible, generally A LOT more people would dislike them, and the server wouldn't be so up to date, organized, friendly(Sort of), and generally a good environment.

Anyway.. Traits; I believe it good, because I like freedom of choice, you can add what you want, and can use traits for more than just pvp, you can use it for: Exploring, building, RP, doing random stuff, mining, etc.. It isn't a strictly pvp thing, and maybe that is what some people dislike about it? Because the server seems to be drifting away from pvp a bit, I do pvp, but as of late I roleplay much more than I do pvp.

Now.. Portal traps.. I have a neutral opinion on them, do to not really having really experienced them, and only hearing stories, of how terrible, and annoying they are. Like one time; where a fellow faction member got stuck in a portal trap, and ended up dying, because he got stuck inside with another pvper, and ended up losing all of his stuff.

Now, just a summary, of my opinions.. Nothing is flawless, and nothing is perfect, not even the admins, as they are human beings as well. However, what does matter, is that staff members, generally try to help. Anyway; that is my opinion (Sorry it is so damn long)

You're certain that is not extreme in the slightest?

Perhaps. Let me phrase it this way: PvPers are very aggressive by nature - after all, they put most of their game-time into killing stuff. It's not conductive to creating a large, self-supporting community, and tends to drive the less dedicated people out of PvP. Even the dedicated PvPers can be driven into inactivity because of the flame wars that generally pop up whenever a raid happens. As such, PvPers have a tendency to be more self-destructive than the other communities on the server.

On the other hand, role players are capable of the most vile dramatic scenery that would make even the withering heights and as the world turns shiver. Heh.
