• Inventory Split Incoming

MassiveCraft will be implementing an inventory split across game modes to improve fairness, balance, and player experience. Each game mode (Roleplay and Survival) will have its own dedicated inventory going forward. To help players prepare, we’ve opened a special storage system to safeguard important items during the transition. For full details, read the announcement here: Game Mode Inventory Split blog post.

Your current inventories, backpacks, and ender chest are in the shared Medieval inventory. When the new Roleplay inventory is created and assigned to the roleplay world(s) you will lose access to your currently stored items.

    Important Dates

    • April 1: Trunk storage opens.
    • May 25: Final day to submit items for storage.
    • June 1: Inventories are officially split.

Please make sure to submit any items you wish to preserve in the trunk storage or one of the roleplay worlds before the deadline. After the split, inventories will no longer carry over between game modes.

As a result of the Proficiency System implementation, we expected to see some sudden Character age ups. We did not however expect to see so many, or rather, the prevailing idea that unless you choose a narrative reason to be 20 years old, being 20 years old plays just the same as being 40 years old, except you end up having less proficiency in comparison. This obviously led to some headache among players, as well as staff. To solve the problem (and also to remove an arbitrary starting point that made math difficult(er)), we have chosen to do the following:
  • Proficiency now starts accumulating points at age 0 (instead of 10)
  • Proficiency now stops accumulating points at age 60 (instead of 70)
  • Proficiency cap remains the same. Culture Points tag along with this change.
  • Schools can only be entered at age 10. Proficiency skills can also not be used until after age 10.
  • Schools have now been clarified to have no specific entering age. That being said, it is also clarified that all Schools which double as Military Orders, require entering at age 10. This is currently Bloodcast and Viridian only.
  • Magic cap rules have been explained to also affect School points. This means that the cap is actually not about the Free Points accumulated, but rather about the Total Proficiency that a character has, without affecting Boosts from Race or Culture. To make this sound simpler: Apply the cap after calculating Free Points and School, and reduce points equally from all Proficiencies. Then add Race or Culture Boost back on top, and you have your final Proficiency.
What does this mean for all current applications:
  • All characters now have +10 Proficiency and +10 Culture points to spend.
  • If you have an APPROVED APPLICATION, you can just change the numbers. Then @Tag your latest reviewer to just re-tag your thread with approved (since editing the thread removes that tag). You don't need a re-review.
  • If you are currently AWAITING REVIEW, you can just change the numbers. Be sure to retag your thread as in need of a Reviewer when you have edited the thread.
  • If you have a current ONGOING REVIEW, you can just change the numbers. Then @Tag your reviewer that you've changed some of the numbers, but it shouldn't cause the Review to start all over.
  • If you are currently WRITING APPLICATION, be sure to make use of the extra points and post the app when it's all done.

Can't be the only one who is thoroughly confused by this. Could you clarify?
You can't go to a military school at age 2, but you can do at age 15, or 30. Meaning you can join the school anytime above the age of 10.
Otherwise we're gonna have ten year olds running around and outduelling grown warriors and outhinking tacticians. We can't have that.

I think he means that Military Order schools only require that your character be age 10, due to it's formal nature. Whereas many other schools are informal, such as the Slum School Thingy for instance, where a character can be trained by anyone taking gold as it's price. The only schools that require you to actually be age 10 when starting are Military ones(?). Still, I'm not entirely sure myself, hope Marty can help @MonMarty

'This is currently Bloodcast and Viridian only.'

That said, it'd be silly to enter a school when your character is 0 unless you rewrite their parents as some sort of Master in that specific field which whilst cliche, but likely effective. I think informal education like that should be started at perhaps age 5, seeing as though you can grow into an environment but you're not entirely aware of the world unless the rose-tinted glasses are broken by your parents. Plus there are physical limitations for a 1-4 year old, beyond mental capacity. It's probably why Marty insists that Military Schools be started at age 10; to circumvent that.

(Apologies for the perhaps unnecessary comment ^^;)

All Schools can only be entered at age 10 and up.

All Schools have no specific starting age, meaning you can start at 22 or 55 or 118, aside the minimum.

Knightly Schools require a 10 year starting age.

It's essential common sense that a 2 year old cannot enter a School. When looking at the proficiency system, you need to actively stop making your mind over-engineer it, because it's really really simple, and the simplest answer is usually the correct one.
