• Melvena is from the impoverished, ruined Elven quarter of the City of Daenshore. She is as Daen as they come, even wearing a Daen rapier instead of an Elven saber on her hip, but has never been accepted by the Tierravera people as one of their own, and has repeatedly struggled with exclusion.
• Melvena, based on her Godborn heritage and the sentiment in the surrounding community, styled herself as a hero of the local Elves. To do this, she got involved in the city's turf wars as a career criminal. She overreached, and lost everything she had to Augustín Roca on his way up the ladder of fame.
• Most Estellians in the world are not nice people. Many of them are good people but most of them are not nice. Melvena is a nice person who is trying very hard to get away from a very bad life where she did bad things that she wants to bury. You can either help her heal or make her worse because it would be funny. I like both.
