⇶The Tattooed Penitent
→Lutrin is from a world apart; forgotten amongst misty heaths and Caledonian forests. Gallovia, and the Empire more broadly outside Talahm-Gall is little known to this Aber-man, beyond the stories told in the Temples of the Wolf-Mother's Marken. Lutrin is one of these, a Strangle Marken, ordained a holy fighter at birth. Long familiar with his 'blessing', Lutrin's control over it is more than most, especially given his role amongst his clan as an executioner of feral, uncontrollable Marken; yet it has not saved him. After a year long confinement by an unknown but powerful group seeking to condition him to their service, he once more has his freedom, but in that freedom he feels dishonor. He covers his face in a mask akin to his serpent form as a rejection of his Ailor visage until he finds his his 'redemption'. This 'redemption' is something he seeks through endless coercive means, physical and otherwise. -
⇶The Aber Covenant
→Born to an Aber clan with Marken heritage, Lutrin was set from the beginning to inherit strength and power from his cursed blood. Rejected, knowingly, by the outside world, Lutrin was indoctrinated to the Wolf-Mother's covenant from an early age, even if his own form took that of a serpent. Despite a long period of torturous confinement, his faith has never wavered, and instead this experience has led to reinforcement of his beliefs: the outsiders reject us, the world has forgotten, and through our honor, blood, and strength we will remind them of that which they themselves lost, or worse, abandoned.

Ailor Heritage
→1 Multilingual: Ailor are masters of languages, which is expected given their habit to culturally divides. Because so many of their languages are inter-connected, various words become more obviously related, and they also take more effort to learn other languages. If someone insults an Ailor, even in a language they do not speak, the Ailor would know, as they know most curse words or words by which to speak ill of others in all languages.
→2 Imperial: Ailor are the masters of the Regalian Empire, and while it has equality between all peoples and heritages, Ailor are just by virtue of being Ailor considered preferential for most government positions and judicial situations. Where possible to do with the Nobility, with Government, or with Palace decisions, Ailor will be treated preferentially over other peoples, even if their qualifications might be lesser than the other options.
→3 Faithful: Ailor when using Syncretism can worship up to 3 Gods of their sub-dominant Religion, instead of just 1 or 2. Additionally, when Syncretizing, they gain the Mechanic of the sub-dominant Religion (except for Evolism, where only one of the Mechanics can be chosen). If your Character does not Syncretize, they gain +1 Attack Stat (Breaking Cap up to 11) against Characters that have Syncretized their mono-faith.
Aber Cultural Heritage
→1 Cearden Beasts: A Character with Aber culture is largely indistinguishable from their Cearden cousins, except that if they are Marken, they are able to speak like normal while transformed.
Markenism
→N/A: N/A
Visual Information
-
⇶Eye Color |
→His eyes are bottle-like green, with partially slit pupils.⇶Skin Color & Face |
→Upon meeting Lutrin, one is almost always met with the metal visage of his cobra-like helmet, decorated in a variety of Pagan designs embossed and engraved with gold and silver. Lutrin covers his face at almost all times, and for someone to lay eyes upon it, something likely went very wrong in his life. He once had a face with hardened, pale yet sun-baked features, covered with a curly red mustache that led into a medium-long, wispy beard. He wore a short, yet somewhat curly mullet. Presently however, his features are gaunt despite his overall body shape, with deep scars and evidence of torture across his otherwise covered visage.⇶Hair, Facial Hair|
→Lutrin's hair and facial hair is almost never visible. In the rare case that it is, one is met by a man with a full, curly mustache that leads into a short red beard, that is long and wispier on the chin. His hair is similarly anachronistic to most Regalian sensibilities, being a somewhat ragged, curly wolf cut.⇶Height |
→Lutrin stands at around 6'3 (190.5cm).⇶Body Type |
→Lutrin is well built, though he is no bodybuilder. His form is natural, born out of hard work and a rugged lifestyle, and as a result is lean, not broad.⇶Body Detailed|
→Lutrin has extensive scarring on his forearms, neck, and lower legs, which suggests a long period of restraint. His body, when and where exposed, is covered in a variety of red-to-fading-gray tattoos, the oldest being the latter color. They cover much of his upper back, his chest and stomach, his hips, his shoulders, and his outer thighs. These tattoos depict avariety of things, such as wolf-like beast men, adders with and without arms,. Vine scroll wraps along the top and bottom of each of his arms and shoulders. Many of the greyer tattoos follow the natural shape of his bones and musculature, but the newer, red tattoos (largely the adders and the geometric linework), follow his scarring instead, almost blending into the physical trauma. Some tattoos do not appear to follow any visible contours, both older and newer ones alike, with most of these independent tattoos being discs of various designs, such as those resembling eyes, and stylized astronomical objects. -
Strangle Marken
⇶Eye Color |
→His Marken eyes are bottle-like green, almost appearing to glimmer, with predacious, slit eyes they belie intelligence and control.⇶Scale Color & Face |
→Lutrin's is a Strangle Marken, and thus possesses the head and face of a massive, predatory snake. Lutrin's natural scale color is threefold, with a lighter tan underbelly, a bluish overall scale color, and black tiger stripes, which vary in number and thickness depending where on his body. His face, in particular, is multi-toned, his low jaw being bluish, the inside of his cobra hood and neck being tan, and his snout, forehead, and the back of his cobra-hood being black, akin to a mask. Long fangs occasionally extend themselves from his unhingeable maw.⇶Head Detailed|
→Lutrin's Marken form has a cobra-like hood, which connects at the back of his neck, and flares upwards akin to a helmet.⇶Height |
→Lutrin, when in the form of a Strangle Marken, stands 'upright' at around 10' tall, though this height is variable as a result of his snake-like body, which can have him grow far taller, or shrink back down, depending on his balance and movement. The length of Lutrin's body is monstrous, perhaps more than 30' long.⇶Body Type |
→Lutrin's Marken form, the 'Tattooed Serpent', is extremely strong. His upper body, whilst little resembling his Ailor form in terms of overall shape, is far, far larger, rippling with powerful muscle. His torso flows evenly into his lower body, which is uniform in size until just before the end of his tail. The colors of his scales, once leaving his head, began much more uniform, with a whitish underbelly, a bluish base color, and black, tiger-like stripes that fade into said blue stretching down the entirety of his form.⇶Body Detailed |
→Perhaps unique amongst Marken save for those with Lykorian Conditioning being their primary method of management, Lutrin still retains some of his Ailor details whilst in his more bestial form. This almost exclusively includes his tattoos, which have been specially painted so as to survive through the transformation, and glimmer slightly whilst in it. Most come in red and fading grey depending on their age, and depict a variety of things, such as wolf-like beast men, adders with and without arms, a horizontal crescent with a geometric, broken, V shaped spear over his chest, geometric line work to separate many of these and vine scroll up and down the outside of his arms and shoulders. Many of the greyer tattoos follow the shape of his bones and musculature, but the newer, red tattoos (largely the adders and the geometric line work), appear free floating in the absence of scarring in this Marken form, and as a result appear to display small scenes which generally appear empowering. Disc tattoos of many varieties, grey and red alike, which seemed to serve no purpose in his Ailor form decorate the inside of his cobra-hood like a starry-night canvas, many appearing akin to stylized eyes and stylized astronomical objects. -
⇶Clothing | Helmeted Talahm-Gall Adventurer
→The first and most notable thing about Lutrin, is how he hides his face. The honor of their Marken warriors is important amongst the Aber, and Lutrin believes he has violated it. As a result, he wears an iron helmet in the shape of a cobra (or, a Strangle Marken) with silver and gold inlays in various patterns, to hide his Ailor visage. Beyond this, his clothing is that of many more rural Gallovians, a mix between functionality and cultural meaning. He often wears a grey cloak, which covers a brown leather shawl, which further covers a blue tartan tunic. His cloak is held in place by a finely-crafted, horseshoe shaped broach. A leather belt holds a ritual knife, and the intricately vine-scroll decorated scabbard for his sword.⇶Weaponry | Decorated Sword and H-shaped Buckler, Claws, Venomous Fangs and Tail
→Despite being a Marken, Lutrin still utilizes more mundane fighting styles. Generally, he focuses on usage of a finely-crafted short sword, covered in symbols and icons similar to his tattoos, whilst he wears an odd H-like shield on his arm, designed to catch and disarm blades of an opponent. He is far more competent with his bare hands, especially his Marken form's claws, deadly venomous bite, and his extremely long body with powerful muscles mostly meant for movement, but usable in constraint and constriction as almost any large snake would, Marken or not.⇶Additional Notes |
→Lutrin has never needed to learn the bow to hunt. As a Marken, he need only out-slither his quarry and use his bare hands to end things quickly.
→Despite his richly-decorated appearance, Lutrin is not wealthy. His goods are communal, made in honor not only of himself, but of those blessed by Markenism in his community, by the members of his community.
→A prized possession, one of Lutrin's few, is a large, silver scale. He does not readily provide an origin.
Plot Hooks and Life Story
-
Interaction hooks are the big, broad reasons one might think to interact with this character! Of course, they aren't the only reasons, just very immediate ones. You can always @ezalB on Discord and message me if you wish to role play!
→Broken Gods Pagan, Gallovian Native | Born amidst the mountains and deep, Caledonian forests of western Gallovia, Lutrin meqq Allcallorred is one of the few Ailor in the archipelago whose existence is not wholly dominated by the Regalian Empire or Unionism. A world apart, much of what is out there is novel to Lutrin. Much of it, too, amounts to apostasy for his 'Wolf-Mother' of the Broken Gods.
→Serpent-Helmeted Figure | Few people wear a helmet all the time- they are things for battle, not for normal life. This is not the case for Lutrin. One may be very inclined to investigate this helmeted figure, whose steel visage is covered in strange symbols and odd designs inlaid with carefully crafted silver and gold.
→The Hunter, The Warrior, The Marken | An avid hunter, a proficient fighter, these things are more than common for someone to witness in the woods or the back alleys of Regalia, and to question Lutrin upon. There, too, is the serpent, whose form arises in times that are required; it is an Aber serpent who speaks, who lies, and who articulates an existence that few other are able to under the effects of their Marken transformations. -
Previous Interaction Hooks are plot-hooks that may give you an idea on how your character may know Lutrin within their backstories. To iron out details, please message @ezalB on Discord, or comment on this thread with an @tag!
→Child of the Broken Gods and Wolf-Mother | As an Aber Ailor, Lutrin was only ever introduced to the Broken Gods, specifically The Covenant, his 'Wolf Mother'. Many helped to forge his worship and belief of this deity, and many more worshiped alongside him. Still, further, there were those who joined him in the hedonistic, party-like interiors of the Marken Temples- and there were those who saw him, the Marken-hunting Marken, cut down those who could not control themselves after turning within these sacred spaces. Any character, sensibly invested in the Broken Gods and aware of the Aber, whilst not being immediately familiar with Lutrin the individual, would certainly know what he likely is based on his tattoos alone: a Strangle Marken.
→Prisoner of 'Azure Order' and the Lothar | Lutrin spent exactly a year within the confines of rogue ex-members of the Azure Order, who were clandestinely overseen by members of the Grauwald Group. He was captured after a hunting expedition ventured near the shoreline of Talahm-Talorcan. During this time, he was experimented on, starved, chained up in isolation for months on end, and 'interrogated'. Though he did not know it, the goal of this rogue band of Azures was to find a way to create and control a Marken soldier. When he eventually escaped as a result of an outside attack on the place he was being kept, he wandered in Kintyr where the prison had been, before he eventually made his way home to Talahm-Gall. There were many steps along this journey he may have met someone, of nearly any stripe, though prior to and during his imprisonment, he would have been known as 'Lutrin'.
→His Quarry, His Enemies, The Outsiders | Lutrin's job amongst the Aber was to hunt feral and uncontrolled Marken whose infections had gone poorly as even the Aber, whose blood has a natural affinity towards Markenism, cannot fully control the beast and so too can suffer from them. His enemies numbered amongst the occasional Gallovian mercenary band or group of bandits in the Gallovian hills; outsiders, trespassers, amongst his Aber people. Here, too, someone may have met Lutrin, though they would have known him by 'Pidarnoin' at the time. -
⇶ Early Life
Born in Talahm-Talorcan in the the northwestern corner of Gallovia in the region of Talahm-Gall, a certain sort of predestination put upon him by transcendental forces, would from the day of his very birth, locked young Lutrin- then Pidarnoin meqq Allcallorred- to a path of righteous beasthood. His clan, meqq Allcallorred, is an (in)famous family in the region of Talahm-Talorcan
