Veillons au salut de l'Empire.

Once the 2nd most prominent noble house in Regalia, the d'Ortonnaise aim to rise back into their place within nobility an reassert their control over culture, military and the court.

The d'Ortonnaise pride neutrality, diplomacy and loyalty to the Empire above all. Within these bounds, they also represent the intelligentsia in warfare committed to reconnaissance and organisation, as well as the culture in Regalia with plays, operas and performances.
Quick information:
- Imperialised Ithanian in culture, with obvious Dressolini influence. House d'Ortonnaise is a pro-military Ithanian house.
- Unionist in religion. The family was torn between Priscelle and Sancella unionism prior, having given Regalia a High Reverend of the Holy Synod in 305AC.
- Right-wing Ithanian in politics. The family supports the slavery of Varran and Nelfin, as well as the Ithanian Matriarchy.
- The family's main themes are diplomacy, military, subterfuge, art and carousing.
- House d'Ortonnaise deals in the production of Plantation Products, mainly sugar and rum refined from dullci cane. Other family products include tabakka, opium, cotton, tea and kaffee.
- The general preference is to obtain the voucher both IC and OOC. That is to say, convince the matriarch that your character/family should become Archipelago nobility, while you convince me that your conduct, RP quality, initiative and ambitions are on par with the nobility.
- The minimum demand is at least a meeting. I would prefer if you arranged for such /before/ implying that you will want a voucher.
- The optimum is that you meet the family and matriarch proper, attend an event of ours and have us attend an event of your own.
All further family information can be found on the d'Ortonnaise family WIKIA.

Open Characters:
High/Medium/Low refers to the expectations when roleplaying a specific character. Naturally, you'll be expected to be more active or proactive with a main-line sibling to the matriarch than with an uncle or cousin.
Caleana d'Ortonnaise (High)
Caleana is a highly educated woman rather close to her eldest sister, the current Matriarch. She has no defined character or application, but is meant to be a graduate of either of the d'Ortonnaise main line compatible intellectual pursuits (history, diplomacy, statesmanship, subterfuge, commerce, banking) with active involvement in either of the artist schools (visual arts, musical arts). She's also expected to be politically active.
Annabelal d'Ortonnaise (Medium)
A twin-sister to Victoriana, Annabella's player is supposed to be a martial woman. A character app had been made previously for a Jeannarc dame. Annabella represents the female pinnacle of strength in the family and may even be a general (shadow general) if the player so deems.
Sirio d'Ortonnaise (Low)
Sirio is an intellectual and of the Dressolini line of the family. He's a thinker, politician and philosopher most likely educated with a background in history. Sirio is more an accessory character than one to be actively played.
Any cousin to Audrey (Medium expectations)
Feel free to make one up and pitch specific father or mother from the family line.
Any aunt / uncle to Audrey (Low expectations)
Feel free to make one up and pitch specific father or mother from the family line.

Applications to house d'Ortonnaise are handled on a streamlined system with stages and clear-cut goals for a prospective applicant. Mind you, most of the application process isn't specifically meant to determine whether you are suitable, but more so begin preparing you to enter noble roleplay and generally to improve as a roleplayer. Mind, I care very little about your past exploits and whether you are well-established on the server. I'm looking for ambitious and fun people with some merit.
Mind, application for family vassals & staff is much easier and will be detailed below.
Family application procedure:
1st Stage: Application
Fill out the following application and post on this thread.
IGN:
RP experience: (summarise your experience in RP)
Proposed Character's name:
Character Pitch: (a description of 100 words at least)
Skype or Discord: (If you don't want to share it public, send me a forum PM)
I may refuse your application, yes. Most likely, I'll refuse if you break application rules, if you pitch a character that's generic (not a d'Ortonnaise but a character that could fit any house) or if you have a very bad OOC reputation. But these aren't rules but guidelines. Absolute power is retained for decisions (and can only be overruled by an in-family vote of majority).
2nd Stage: Interview
I will contact you for an interview, which will happen in skype or discord chat (written). Expect this to last anywhere between 10 minutes to half an hour. We'll be discussing your character, your goals, your knowledge of lore and related. Mind, this isn't a test, more so an opportunity for me to determine what I should watch out for during your trial.
3rd Stage: 3 weeks's trial
You will be placed on a three week long trial, following the interview (unless there's something very awkward during the interview). You can either procure a skin of your own, or ask nicely in our family chat and be given one to use. We've four skinners in the family and another four amongst family staff, of which six hold regular auctions. You'll be added to the family chat too, and most likely any discords we use (including noble discord). There you can see where events happen and can announce your own ones as well.
What do I expect from you during these three weeks:
Post a character application and get it approved
Interact with most family members and establish your character in the family.
Actively participate in skype discussions and be a proactive community member.
Establish your character's presence in the roleplay scene. If I ask a noble "Hey, how about [your character's name]?" I want to hear a decent reply, not a simple "Who???".
Decent activity. I don't expect you to drop out of school, but if you more actively play another character during your trial or if you disappear for 2-3 days straight your trial will be terminated.
You will be given ample resources during your trial:
An up-to-date timeline collection of all events pertaining your backstory.
An up-to-date collection of all family-related lore pages on the wiki with summaries.
An up-to-date collection of all family-related world progressions with summaries.
Guideline pages on skinning, roleplaying, character creation and d'Ortonnaise roleplay.
A helpful and kind group of people who've been roleplaying together for a long while ready to answer questions and help you.
If your trial is terminated, your character will be taken and be made available to new applicants.
4th Stage: Provisional Acceptance
Provisional acceptance is announced if a trial is successful. This means that even if you are removed from the family for inactivity or related, your character won't be available to others for at least a month post your departure. This means you'll have full voting power in the family matters and also a kind-of acceptance into our community.
From here on, you'll be working towards obtaining a noble title.
5th Stage: Official Acceptance
Official acceptance is bestowed upon those who get evaluated for a noble title and obtain one. If you do so, your character will get locked firm and even if you are kicked from the family or go inactive for an indefinite time your character will be safe and won't ever be given to somebody else.

Staff / vassal applications:
Just post an IC-letter on this thread detailing your desired role and qualifications. We'll get back to you as soon as we can.
Vassals and bannermen are commoner families seeking protection & representation under house d'Ortonnaise. It's an opportunity to maintain semi-independence of your family while entering the noble scene and interacting with nobility. You'll have good prospects and chances to become a noble yourself.
