Grew up with his mother till he was 4, when his taken by his uncle to learn how to sail. Grew up happily with his older cousins as company, when he was 10 his father joined the sailing crew with Ethari's sister called Mia. Mia grew to be very sick when she was 15 and Ethari(18) was tasked to save her from suffering. Killing her and loosing himself to grief, he spent 3 years on the ship fighting everyone that Mia was alive and that he wasn't insane. Eventually Cambell sent Ethari to Regelia to recover, thinking being away from the ship would help and stop Ethari from hallucinating Mia.
Ethari still believes Mia is alive and often talks about her like she is, but has found coming to Regelia has made him more aware of his own thinking, he remembers that she is dead more often but still is very confused. During this time after coming to Regelia he was bitten by a marken.
