• Inventory Split Incoming

MassiveCraft will be implementing an inventory split across game modes to improve fairness, balance, and player experience. Each game mode (Roleplay and Survival) will have its own dedicated inventory going forward. To help players prepare, we’ve opened a special storage system to safeguard important items during the transition. For full details, read the announcement here: Game Mode Inventory Split blog post.

Your current inventories, backpacks, and ender chest are in the shared Medieval inventory. When the new Roleplay inventory is created and assigned to the roleplay world(s) you will lose access to your currently stored items.

    Important Dates

    • April 1: Trunk storage opens.
    • May 25: Final day to submit items for storage.
    • June 1: Inventories are officially split.

Please make sure to submit any items you wish to preserve in the trunk storage or one of the roleplay worlds before the deadline. After the split, inventories will no longer carry over between game modes.

Technical Essentialess's Guide To Shading Skintones

Hello. I am Essentialess, and this is my guide.

tumblr_nune7drTJ61rn2chmo1_r1_540.gif

This guide will show you how to shade the FLESH of your Minecraft roleplay skin.

If you are new to skinning I also reccomend the following tutorials:
The program I use during this tutorial is McSkin3D, the predecessor to PMC's in-website skinning tool.

Step 1. Choose your base color.
JO5UanaxOzxBNxcfxXvE9LG5wD-msx5F1Xgb73V_R1FFOkCXukLPe2ZWeYCJ75a64QcKP32d76Wrj0FIsb5w3J2am74zdKXbQE2FSvWZgbCv0711GBmtRvi_byl-pnaDpvSe4OPzUsUkoderGpFwDRA

→ For human flesh, I choose a color within the drawn box and pick something with medium saturation.

Step 2. Outline the shape of the face
Q6vZ2Pv8ridubYPmNtJt5IAiXNbvAiwhmJl46LmL9cgtqSWBguoIoLJfk5NGOj9Oz-FuP4ets0LZSZIwpzCzyZCu8eVU5RFHHV8PGC_dyrRE3jHEm3IGEsyk6DKkZWwBlvZ2PdoSI8-67z8oB7UZkr1e2fP3pFVkUudrMx-Bs3PQs8g5s-PMKxoRt4tEiQ

Step 3. Add shadows to the corners of your outline
8LorDDqD6oLQqmgcco1BBzPm-nJoucV9jkD5IqKc02Ga05Q9TPyzukLZW56l2Qng6y5o05KBelU_a6mfTqyn98-YpS1KPRCvg6yOt0yLB4NuMk6c0bHwbvfzg0gf_MPKG6cmbWgAGKA9eVWqfZuFoBvj79PgnFY8-Q17mWI6drMW7YfbHuuF-SZPIHUAug
THERE'S BLOOD UNDERNEATH THE FLESH.

→ When picking your shadow color, choose something with a reddish undertone.
(IT DOES NOT MATTER IF YOUR CHARACTER BLEEDS "GOLDEN ICHOR" OR WHATEVER)
→ The less redness you use, the more lifeless the flesh will look.

→ You'll notice for the deepest skin, I use something purple for the blushiness. Don't be afraid to dip into that range, it'll still look brown.

Step 4. Increase lightness towards the center
wVJLG_QCSyeluaywgr9IqF0BFhflE_WLyRyryHejtoJeb24_5fnVH4NhhREgxDVQnM2_vdbmopepkuq9SN7yXKuDSP_HAQgkUZzUCi4zYKlgT49Erzh6gdW27T_wXsFQNP8cBCLpwQWUZeRxOR4JjVIcZ714vBGklZEyNwips-YjmnNl2p6YBUFCP4j-Tg

→ Once you have the first two colors down, this is the last step.

→ I do the same thing no matter what part of the flesh I'm skinning: darker on the corners, lighter towards the middle.

→ When shading skin, I make it lighter in SMALL increments. It's easy to over do it, I only go very bright for the highlight (I talk about this in my original tutorial)

You can do different shapes and patterns for your character's face based on the outline

→ Still keep the darkest shadows on the cheeks, forehead, and sometimes the lips.

→ The shape of the hair and eyes is what makes your character look more unique, but the way you shade the face is the same!

→ It's easy to do muddy shading by just darkening your base color for the shadows.

→ When you want this sort of look , take the same steps as before.

→ But, for the darker part, pick something that's only slightly warm. Don't just darken the color. Still do small increments when going lighter.

→ I made this character into a rad vampire by turning his skin into something more purple, brighter and desaturated.

→ If the character is blue or green, I still shift the wheel towards something warmer to do the shadow. But, because it's fantasy there's a huge range. You can mostly do whatever.
