There are just some things about MassiveCraft and how it is being managed that make playing and enjoying it rather difficult for me. I love Minecraft; I love the mystery and expansiveness of it, I love the idea of multiplayer, stepping out into a new world with others, running off in all different directions and each returning with a different, amazing story to tell.
I love roleplaying, I love character development, the progression of stories, and how they shape our characters.
For all intents and purposes, MassiveCraft should be a great server for me, and it has, in many ways over the years. But it's getting harder to deny that it's just not the same as it was when I joined.
And it's getting impossible to deny that I don't necessarily like the direction Massive is headed.
Regardless of my personal preference and how that may sway my opinion, MassiveCraft is training more and more toward a direction that favours factions only.
I've never been a fan of factions or PvP, and these two things are not only quite popular on this server, they seem to be gaining much more importance and weight in decisions than I have seen previously. To me, this is neither good nor bad in an objective sense, but it does mean that this is beginning to look like a place that is not quite suitable for me and my style of play.
Not only do I find it unreasonable to allow PvPers to trample on those who are just attempting to make their way out in the world, I also find it unreasonable to completely wipe worlds of "unclaimed" structures while passing over faction territory.
I'm really not interested in needing to rebuild my home over and over again simply because I can't afford to make it a claimed territory, or find it to be an unnecessary expense in light of my recent income trouble.
I'm even less interested in continuing to play in a place that would force me to join a faction and take up residence in a pre-built or restricted area just to keep my home from being lost with every restore.
So, that being said, I'm not going to playing on MassiveCraft anymore. I will still be on the forums, however :') Just don't be expecting to find me in-game.
It was a pleasure to play, while it lasted.
