• Inventory Split Incoming

MassiveCraft will be implementing an inventory split across game modes to improve fairness, balance, and player experience. Each game mode (Roleplay and Survival) will have its own dedicated inventory going forward. To help players prepare, we’ve opened a special storage system to safeguard important items during the transition. For full details, read the announcement here: Game Mode Inventory Split blog post.

Your current inventories, backpacks, and ender chest are in the shared Medieval inventory. When the new Roleplay inventory is created and assigned to the roleplay world(s) you will lose access to your currently stored items.

    Important Dates

    • April 1: Trunk storage opens.
    • May 25: Final day to submit items for storage.
    • June 1: Inventories are officially split.

Please make sure to submit any items you wish to preserve in the trunk storage or one of the roleplay worlds before the deadline. After the split, inventories will no longer carry over between game modes.

There are just some things about MassiveCraft and how it is being managed that make playing and enjoying it rather difficult for me. I love Minecraft; I love the mystery and expansiveness of it, I love the idea of multiplayer, stepping out into a new world with others, running off in all different directions and each returning with a different, amazing story to tell.
I love roleplaying, I love character development, the progression of stories, and how they shape our characters.
For all intents and purposes, MassiveCraft should be a great server for me, and it has, in many ways over the years. But it's getting harder to deny that it's just not the same as it was when I joined.

And it's getting impossible to deny that I don't necessarily like the direction Massive is headed.

Regardless of my personal preference and how that may sway my opinion, MassiveCraft is training more and more toward a direction that favours factions only.
I've never been a fan of factions or PvP, and these two things are not only quite popular on this server, they seem to be gaining much more importance and weight in decisions than I have seen previously. To me, this is neither good nor bad in an objective sense, but it does mean that this is beginning to look like a place that is not quite suitable for me and my style of play.

Not only do I find it unreasonable to allow PvPers to trample on those who are just attempting to make their way out in the world, I also find it unreasonable to completely wipe worlds of "unclaimed" structures while passing over faction territory.

I'm really not interested in needing to rebuild my home over and over again simply because I can't afford to make it a claimed territory, or find it to be an unnecessary expense in light of my recent income trouble.
I'm even less interested in continuing to play in a place that would force me to join a faction and take up residence in a pre-built or restricted area just to keep my home from being lost with every restore.

So, that being said, I'm not going to playing on MassiveCraft anymore. I will still be on the forums, however :') Just don't be expecting to find me in-game.

It was a pleasure to play, while it lasted.

As someone who has been on Massive for nearly 3 years (I think?), it is in fact the roleplay scene that's a recent development. While I'm sorry Massive is no longer appealing to you, Factions and PVP have always been, and rightfully should be, a primary part of Massivecraft. This is the official "Factions" server, after all.

As for MassiveRestore, it is an unfortunate necessity. As Massive has gotten larger, worlds have worn out faster and faster. With MassiveRestore, worlds can last indefinitely, but at the cost of unclaimed building becoming difficult.

I'm sorry Massive is no longer "for you", and I hope you do find a server suitable to your style of play. And if not, I hope you'd be willing to give a faction a chance back here on Massive. There are plenty of good ones out there.

I'm going to address your points one by one, and hopefully change your mind a bit, since I hate to see people leave the server for any reason.

MassiveCraft is a server of many different kinds of people, who prefer many different kinds of play style. I myself care for PVP and the factions side of the server, and it's offered to me. I know tons of people who enjoy RP exclusively, and that's available to them to.

Yes, a lot of PVP related changes have been made within recent months. Those changes can be broken down into:
  • Creation of the PVP & Squire staff.
  • Changes to PVP (that were really long overdue and needed)
  • Addition of KitPVP
In my eyes, those are the big three things that have happened in terms of PVP development within the past few months. They were all needed too. The server has Lore staff, which do an amazing job with the Lore and Roleplay aspect of the server. It was only a matter of time until we needed the PVP staff, a dedicated group of people with a PVP background, that would put in as much dedication to working on PVP just as the Lore staff have put into their work, which is a lot.

MassiveCraft is advertised as both a RP and PVP server. It was only sensible that we begin developing the PVP side of it a bit more, and show it some love. And all we did we benefit the server, not harm it in any way.

MassiveCraft will always be suitable for someone's play style. The work and developing of another part of the server does not undo or harm the work that has already been done to the aspects of the server you prefer, rest assured in that. On the topic of MassiveRestore, it was simply not feasible to constantly have to replace worlds after they've outlived their span of being useful and appealing. MassiveRestore covers both those points, and does it well. Losing old builds is a sacrifice we must make.

  • Factions cost 100 regals to make. Not a lot at all.
  • If you claim even 10 or 20 chunks of land (I'm not sure how big your base is) that's only one or two regals per day. I find it hard that you can't afford that.
How big is your base, chunk wise? I'm honestly curious.

I'd encourage you to continue playing. The play style you enjoy is still here. Adapt to the changes the server makes, rather than asking the server to adapt to your wishes.

None of your replies are changing my decision.

I have already clearly mentioned that the server is not bad, it is just not for me. There's no need to be defensive, because I'm not attacking and demanding the server meet my needs, nor am I "ragequitting", I simply recognize that it is not for me.

The only purpose of this thread was to officially let people know I won't be playing in-game anymore, nothing more. There are a few people I've known who have been interested in playing with me, and I just felt that it should be announced officially so people (including myself) have a point of reference if the topic comes into question.

Thanks for the replies and concern over my presence though, I appreciate that you felt moved enough to address my concerns in detail. But I'm not playing anymore and that is the final decision.

@togal300: Is it really necessary to give my original post that pointless and obnoxious rating? You are free to disagree with me, but honestly, I'd respect that more if you did not act in ways that make it clear you have no intention of peacefully letting me have my opinion.

Additionally, it is clear we do not agree at all and that you have little respect for my opinion, so why are you posting here? Obviously you do not want players like me playing on the server you inhabit. And I won't be anymore. So the point is moot.
Please leave my thread if you have nothing constructive (as in, things I haven't heard already a dozen times over and do not agree with anyway) or friendly to mention or suggest to me.

Same! Like i only ever saw you on the forums.
Your art thread was amazing tho

Leave my thread please, both of you. You aren't adding anything to the conversation and you aren't respecting what the point of posting was. In fact, you're derailing the entire thing.
At this point you are both just pointlessly vandalizing something that never concerned you to begin with.

Thank you.

I love the report feature on the forums. Players should use it. Topic is locked as against Forum rules, a "no longer around" thread is essentially the same as a "Goodbye" one. Thread is cleaned of any negative comments and warnings applied to those that need it.
