• Inventory Split Incoming

    MassiveCraft will be implementing an inventory split across game modes to improve fairness, balance, and player experience. Each game mode (Roleplay and Survival) will have its own dedicated inventory going forward. To help players prepare, we’ve opened a special storage system to safeguard important items during the transition. For full details, read the announcement here: Game Mode Inventory Split blog post.

    Your current inventories, backpacks, and ender chest are in the shared Medieval inventory. When the new Roleplay inventory is created and assigned to the roleplay world(s) you will lose access to your currently stored items.

    Important Dates

    • April 1: Trunk storage opens.
    • May 25: Final day to submit items for storage.
    • June 1: Inventories are officially split.

    Please make sure to submit any items you wish to preserve in the trunk storage or one of the roleplay worlds before the deadline. After the split, inventories will no longer carry over between game modes.

Before I start, I want to say that any sort of spamming, aggression, or dickitry will be reported. This is a study, not a flame train to hop onto.

While I understand that few people play the Thylan, I fail to see the reason as to why people's characters (I do know people who play as Thylans) need to be scrapped entirely, when the race can just be left alone until interest rises.

My argument would be that while Thylans were played only by few, some players played them and more will in the future. From my understanding, the only reason given in the announcement thread was that few people played them, but why to remove it when we have currently players playing them? If you all don't have manpower to make a re-write, why remove it instead of leaving it there?

@Staff Roleplay

I see very few Thylan characters actively played, not you mention I have also seen no significant ones whatsoever having been produced. The race was made forever ago, and interest almost never happened at all. I see it as that the choice has already been made, and shouldn't be looked back upon for the time simply because Thylan haven't overall done too much in the applied and approved categories of characters. It just affects so little, and has to be, by what I see, the least used race ever in that I have only seen about 3 of them in total from having first been produced more than a year ago.

But why would they remove it? There are still people who played them. I see no point in removing.

Much like the Avarr long ago, it must be to that it's either not being done right, or it just gives no opportunities whatsoever to advance as characters, in my opinion. I wouldn't know personally, but either way, it's just made unplayable, not completely removed. That surely means they have possible plans in the future, but are withholding it for the moment before such happens. I still wouldn't know for sure, but all I can say is, once more, that it's so unpopular among active characters. Lots of people used Spirit magic, and an increasing amount of people were using Soul Beast, but they still changed it. We don't exactly have a say in what goes on or off in the lore, nor should we really ever.

Still, that doesn't mean people can't voice their opinions. This isn't a case of unending powergaming, this is just a semi-stagnant race that was removed due to a lack of interest.
But frankly, we can see that at least a few people have taken interest in the race as of recently. It seems like the perfect opportunity to get the race back onto its feet. I continually RP with at least 1 thylan, and he plays them pretty well. We aren't asking for them to be re-implemented into the lore (as the aren't gone), or for them to be given a major rewrite. We would just like for them to remain playable.

They were an ok concept imo, they didn't really have much going for them. I'm impartial to their removal because I never had interest in a furry race, but since I was there to witness the Torrp get butchered, I sympathize with them as well. The race was more or less OK, and I'm kinda questioning why staff choose to wipe out these races instead of touch them up. There weren't many people playing the Thylan, but now there are none. My only real interpretation is that staff are trying to make things look more polished, as older/less detailed races seem to be getting ripped, not the unpopular ones (cough cough Tarchlann)

The Thylans weren't removed due to the lack of interest, that was merely the justification not to do an overhaul of the race. In the Announcement it said the Thylan were removed because they no longer fit within the lore properly as a playable race. Due to the small amount of Thylan players a rewrite of the lore couldn't be justified. The page couldn't be left alone due to the race not fitting well in the lore of the server. That's why the Mekket's had their rewrite with the Torrp. To fit them better into the server lore and what they were meant to exist as. Perhaps in the future this will happen with the Thylan. It is an unfortunate circumstance but one that had to happen.
