• Inventory Split Incoming

    MassiveCraft will be implementing an inventory split across game modes to improve fairness, balance, and player experience. Each game mode (Roleplay and Survival) will have its own dedicated inventory going forward. To help players prepare, we’ve opened a special storage system to safeguard important items during the transition. For full details, read the announcement here: Game Mode Inventory Split blog post.

    Your current inventories, backpacks, and ender chest are in the shared Medieval inventory. When the new Roleplay inventory is created and assigned to the roleplay world(s) you will lose access to your currently stored items.

    Important Dates

    • April 1: Trunk storage opens.
    • May 25: Final day to submit items for storage.
    • June 1: Inventories are officially split.

    Please make sure to submit any items you wish to preserve in the trunk storage or one of the roleplay worlds before the deadline. After the split, inventories will no longer carry over between game modes.

I was thinking that maybe the server could add in a shackles plugin or something that would make a player be able to take another person prisoner. I thought this could work as someone right-clicking another person with, for example. iron bars, which then would mean that the player loses all control over where they can walk or do. The person holding the prisoner could then tell them where to go. A possible way to do this would be by using a fishing rod or something and then having them be towed around or placed somewhere. For example, use a tripwire hook to keep them stationary. Plus it would make jails a lot more useful.:)It would also make it a lot more realistic in wars. To release them a player could either give them an item or right-click with, for example, shears.

Why hit someone with a sword when you can just hit them with an iron bar and effectively insta kill them?
 
Well this could be abused. Lets say Argonia invades Zion again, and Grailen leads the assault. He could probably kill everyone in Zion by himself, but if this plugin was implemented we could just "take him prisoner" and he couldn't do anything about it. Its like the ultimate weapon. You can instantly render a opponent defenseless.
 
Then its pointless taking prisoners since everyone can just carry shears on them and set themselves free.
 
Ok then, a harder to build or find item, shears was just an example, same with iron bars
 
I think this would be more feasible if you could only be taken prisoner if you were weak, for example if you had less than 2 hearts.
 
Yes, I agree with IllogicalLeaf, or maybe the player would have to surrender - Typing in /surrender or something, and only then could you take him prisoner, otherwise he would lose all his stuff. (Unless he was premium. *sigh*)[DOUBLEPOST=1357521552][/DOUBLEPOST]"Otherwise" as in that would be the turning point of surrendering. Dying (well, it does if you want to do faction power) itself doesn't matter, losing your armor and stuff, does.
 
Even then it would still be waaaayyyyy too exploitable. If this was ever implemented, there needs to be a time limit they can keep prisoners (like one mincraft day) and the only way to could shackle them would be if the opponent isn't moving for like 10 seconds and is standing in front of a wall that you could shackle them to.
 
I like the Idea, but we need to be able to stop exploitation... What if, if you kill an enemy in your territory, they respawn in a set location as a prisoner, or something along those lines?
 
Tax, what would be the point? You could just set an item to have them follow, or just the person who captured them. I agree with the /surrender option and the two hearts capture, that would make it less powerful. And a prisoner cant move or do anything Leaf, so they couldn't kill anyone. Be good to make sure the prisoners cant die either but couldn't gain any hearts when they are captured. Maybe set the max time of capture to like 20 days, where it reaches the point of where another person might want to rescue them but its not something they would just wait out.
 
20 Days? Trolls are going to have a fun time with that....
 
A plugin like this abuses the rules of roleplay. A plugin of this nature takes away free will to roleplay how a person would desire. Cooldowns mean nothing when I player is unable to move and react how they want. In roleplay with other people, the rule is that you cannot force another roleplayer into a situation they do not wish to enter. You must always attempt an action and wait to see how the other will react. It's turn based. Locking them up with shackles breaks this rule.

It's a good idea, but if a plugin like this was made, it would have to include an option to allow some one to be captured. All the other ideas could be implemented in with the plugin, but without the option to choose to be captured or not, it would break roleplay rules.

This is just my own opinion however. You dont have to like it or agree with it.

Ok, but then that should be set to each faction, I mean this server is a roleplay server, people should at least expect something will happen to them that is roleplay-involved.

So if someone's raiding you grab a stack of iron bars and go around right clicking them so they can't escape? That sounds fair.. Not. I suggest rethinking your suggestion and posting something more reasonable, if it is at all possible. Thank you, and have a nice day.
 
Made a new post that's improved. It incorporated a good portion of ideas that were posted above.
