Delivered to each of the government Curia offices, including the Regal Bastion of the Undercrown, was a short letter from the front line in Farah'deen, signed and stamped with the waxy green seal of the House Typhonus, and the gilded insignia of the Ostmark Theatre. If opened, it would read:
"Officials and liaisons of the Imperial Government,
I begrudgingly write to you all today to speak on a matter which I had hoped to never deal with again. As I dictate this correspondence, my general staff and I are in the midst of plotting out the Realm's next steps in the effort against the Songaskian Massya, as directed by our Holy Emperor.
But, it seems, due to the incompetence of certain parties within and outside of the government, there may be setbacks in the foreseeable future. I will be frank. If any Northerne tribesman so much as spills a drop of Calemberger blood, I will not hesitate to raise hell in the North. Obviously, I wish to avoid such a confrontation. I am currently burdened with the glorious purpose of leading the Ostmark Armies in Farah'deen against the enemies of the Great Way, in cooperation with the Crown.
Thus, the future of this prospective plight is in the hands of the remainder of the government. I will not tolerate a second invasion of my lands and brutal slaughter of my innocent people at the hands of the Northerne dogs. Thus, I implore the government to act swiftly to ensure that the situation is diffused without causing detriment to the war effort in Farah'deen. I will not abandon my duties here, but I also will not stand to see my people humiliated a second time.
Futhermore, the House Typhonus hereby denounces the Houses Bigge, Drache, and Valdemar for gross military incompetence, and causing intolerable embarrassment to the Regalian Armed Forces. May the Spirit show mercy to their pitiable souls.
Dictated but not read.
